How does that work? I am not sure I undersrtand how you got the gas
If they do it again I'm going for $250 for $ 2250 worth of gas!
Spend $150 on gift cards in 8 transactions = $1200 spent. (Wide variety of cards available - had to buy at least 2 different cards. EX: Esso, Petro Canada)
6500 pts per transaction x 8= 52,000 pts (not awarded instantly but awarded within a couple of weeks)

If redeemed on bonus redemption days like upcoming one or similar worth approx $125

$125/$1200=10.4%. So basically if you have to buy gas anyway, have the cash up front, and regularly buy stuff at SDM, you can save 10% on gas, or put another way 13 cents/l if gas is $130/l.

Perhaps by buying tons of gift cards for Petro-Canada (or whatever gas station you like) netted Cas77 a bunch of points?
This. Esso actually.

I don't recall it being 2 different retailers. I might be wrong...it's a long time ago and I'm getting old.

I had difficulty buying $250 worth of stuff. I also lost track of my running total a few times as I wandered the aisles. Bring a calculator with you unless you have an excellent memory.

Last year, I redeemed for $250 worth of diapers and formula for the food bank. Went back in and bought a camera and a couple of DS games for the kids. Went back on Sunday and bought a PS3 on one redemption and a 3DS & move bundle on another. I find there's always lots to redeem for. This year, a wiiU comes to mind or games / controllers if you can beat the campers. I imagine the wiiU's will go quickly on those 2 days.

Hmm, you have a lot of points. Three redemptions at 95,000 equal 285,000 points! Not everyone have that many points.
Have a nice day!

$75 last weekend would have netted you 18,500 bonus points...a 20x event would also get you there pretty quick.

Optimum is one of the easiest loyalty programs to earn points. Majority of people do not pay attention to flyer/bonus offers. If they did and timed their purchases the program would not be sustainable. Also, using the Optimum credit card is an easy way to earn additional points.

what's the ratio for money spent : points earned?

I have a Opt card for a few years now and don't really pay attention to the points I earn every time, only that I don't have enough points yet for any redemption :(
