I wonder how you can zoom a light that is neither On nor Off?

it would be On Flood/Off/On Zoom for their "3" modes. thats why buying from online Chinese retailers is always such an awesome experience! never know what u gonna get!

got the flash lights and they're good flash lights. Over hyped and Im not 100% sure they're worth $8 each.

What are you comparing this light to that makes it not worth $8?

So I'd like to order one of the OP lights and I've been scanning through the thread but man that's a lot reading. I think I want to stay away from the 14500 batteries just to be safe but I'd like to have pretty good battery life. Are most people just using the OP light with a 1-AA battery or are they buying the extension and using a 2-AA setup to extend battery life and help with overheating?

Can someone give me some advice here? Am I on the right track? Thanks!

trustfire is a good brand and the reviews on these are good:

theyre also protected, meaning they have overcharge/discharge protection built into the battery.

im sure theres trustfire fakes out there too, but at least with dealextreme the buyer reviews are usually pretty spot on. i think for something like a flashlight, you should be fine with the ebay ones unless youre relying on it for somewhat heavy use. mine havent arrived yet so i cant comment, but ill post here when they do. if the batteries noticeably suck, ill pay the extra for the dealextreme ones. since i just play around with them, i think the cheaper ones will suffice.

edit: my ebay battery/charger combo arrived (~$7) and everythings fine. batteries came precharged and work so far. charger goes red to green when fully charged and fits many different battery lengths via spring loaded battery holder.

EVERYBODY HOLD YOUR ORDERS!!!

I just got my clones from chinabuye and they have 3 modes!! High/Low/Flash! $6.90 each! They are "Hwaowys UltraFire" Branded on one side and " CREE Q5" on the other side.

At the time I ordered them (last month), you would get a discount if you got 3 or more, but I don't see it now.

Only problem is, on focus mode, the light does not focus as tightly as the original TomTop light. I just swapped out the lens unit from the TomTop onto the ChinaBuye one and it fixed the problem. Although, now I have 3 lights that don't focus as tightly, just pretend you don't know when you shine it at the bushes...u can't tell the different anyway. The focus/zoom slide is also much smoother than the one I got from TomTop, i like it a lot.

The light is a little bit colder or blue compared to the TomTop, and I think the construction may be a step down as evidenced by the lens, and one of the clips out of the 3 are a little crooked. But still I am really happy to have one that has low mode...i bet the light could last for hours! Gonna go test it out!

my light arrived today. the flash mode is barely evident, its more of a light flicker. the low mode and high mode are indistiguishable. mine pretty much looks like a single mode since the variations between the modes dont justify calling it a seperate mode. also mine heats up pretty well after 2-3 minutes using a 14500 battery and i saw a bit of smoke coming out of it

maybe i got a dud, but i much prefer the single mode sipik s68 clones i got so far (like the tomtop one in op)

pretty big difference in terms of light output.

id suggest checking out budgetlightforum.com for more info on lights. ton of info and caters to these cheaper lights as well

I suggest you add a barrel extension to the Tomtop 7 or 8$ flashlight, put in a total of 3 eneloops, and you should get pretty close to 3.7 V. That's what I did, and the light output is significantly greater.
