My CONSENT and AUTHORIZATION needs to be resent because they said it was not dark enough, not legibel.
Should I use a BLACK pen instead of a BLUE pen? thanks. Email said this:
Please darken consent form – information is not legibel

Certain areas have MSC's as a necessity, for the time being. For example, downtown Vancouver due to high population density. When postal transformation kicks in, MSC's will largely be phased out because 85% of all routes will be mobiles, the remaining 15% being footwalks. Until then (at least 2 years here in Van City), MSC's will be around, but even they have been offered LC jobs because there isn't a lot of work for low seniority MSCs. There were 2 such examples in my LC Class last summer (both had about 3 years sen. and were laid off 3 times each). They both got 1 week of training and we got 3.
I have also seen higher seniority (7 years sen.) MSC's backfilling as OR LC's.
As a side note, someone from HR walked thru the depot last January and I had a quick convo with him. I told him I applied for part time status and he told me it was "imminent". Almost 8 months later, I am still a term and moved maybe 5 spaces on the seniority list (I am now in the mid-20's). Today, I had a convo with the staffing supervisor at the very large depot I work at (actually 3 depots combined under one roof) and she suggested that I contact the union because there are several part time positions that have not been filled for years. Nobody wants part time and she can't fill those positions so it either goes on overtime as sections or back filled by terms. Meanwhile, virtually everybody before me on the seniority list is already a permanent LC. What gives? Contract negotiation? HR is waiting until the end of Summer for retirements? etc? etc???Last edited by postiewiththemostie; Jul 27th, 2012 at 10:50 PM.

I would say it is pandemic malaise at cpc. our classroom instructor, an old unretired guy hadn t been paid in weeks despite being in contact and going through all the channels he knows. what else is it when you tell someone in authority of a problem they assure you it will be fixed and it isnt ? you might have one or two folk who really care and try and work hard to make things right but they are against a tidal wave of workers who just aren t motivated to carry it through. all of us here on the sidelines - perfect example of this malaise. if it werent for the free money on holidays I wouldve dropped cpc ages ago.

Reading the last few pages kind of tells me why there has been a HUGE delay in my being hired. I was told at the end of May that I passed all the tests and interviews and that somebody would contact me in the "coming weeks" to schedule me for training. Well, I still haven't heard back. So I'm guessing they are going to wait until after September so that my hire date would be at the lower pay scale. That changes things dramatically and doesn't really seem fair. I mean when you interview for a job and go through numerous steps to get said job, it's with the knowledge that you'll be paid enough to make ends meet.
I've been pretty patient with this whole process, lasting over 7 months. I also have felt confident that I would do well on everything so I haven't been looking for a plan B in the mean time. And I did do well. But for them drag me on just so that they don't have to pay me what they told me an LC makes during every step of this process, is not only misleading, it's really horrible to do that to people. I'm extremely frustrated now that I've most likely just wasted the last 7 months on this.

well; you might be right, but the lower rate of pay is still just an offer- regardless, don t turn you life over for cpc, put it on the side and use the time to go for other things; you never know, you might find yourself 20 years from now gratefully looking back on how you almost got stuck at cpc. when you leave one place, you enter another

This is just an offer, it will be awhile before this is all sorted out. Could be years if there are court challenges. The union won't accept this offer, so don't worry and keep upbeat. I would suggest getting a part time job though, as if you do get hired you may only work a day or 2 a month for a year. Perhaps more, but go into it thinking that and anything else is a bonus.

It is not their final offer, it was done a few days before everyone was to meet with the arbitraitor. It was done as a way to come across as willing to negotiate and to try and make the union look bad to the arbitraitor. It was a tactic. That being said, last I heard the union was still trying to get the arbitraitor replaced because he had worked for Canada Post and ran for the Conservative party. Kind of bias if you ask me, but the union dropped the ball as he was on their list. The back to work ruling is also in the courts, and who knows how long that will take. It will be interesting to see this all be figured out in a few years when the NDP are in power
