...Except in Quebec where BB is calling it a moving sale and closing stores for the July 1 "moving day"--no joke!
Last time I checked, at least the banks are still calling it Canada Day here...
(Yes, yes, I know this is completely OT)

Yea, I was born and raised in Toronto all my life. I go to montreal EVERY year for a week and have the time of my life with some of the nicest people in the country. You guys should stop being so ignorant and racist. It really makes you look stupid.

In Quebec, rental leases typically expire on July 1st. Thus, it's "moving day" for a lot of people that aren't renewing. Just one of those little things unique to a place's culture.
They also enforce store closures during holidays. Canada Day could be one of those days where stores just have to be closed. If you feel like working on a holiday, go volunteer to run a Best Buy during the sale. (Out of province of course.)
And once again, it's Best Buy's decision to name their sale. Not the Quebec people or government. If you're that offended that they removed the word "Canada" from their sale, dial 1-866-BEST BUY and complain to your heart's content.

I know it's a bit smaller, but BB used to have a 42" Toshiba Regza 120Hz on sale for $1350 regularly. This one: link
Aside from the size, anyone know how the 42" Regza stacks up against the 46" Aquos?
Also, why are the plasmas so much cheaper than the LCDs?

Being "racist" means being discriminatory on the basis of RACE and as far as I know people living in Quebec (or Ontario, or BC, or... the list goes on) are not a race.
There's many other words one can use to describe such remarks, but "racist" is not one of them.
cheers
PS. I am against any prejudice or treating 'others' as inferior because of their race/beliefs/origin, so I agree w/ you.

Toshiba Regza's hold their own. I have a couple friends who have Regza's and they have excellent picture quality. I plan on buying one myself sooner than later!

Demand I guess. Some plasmas are extremely heavy, and probably suffer the stigma of old burn in issues and that 7 year life expectancy. Thats all gone, but the fact it existed doesn't help plasmas case.

I cannot believe what I just read...
g0lden0rchard: Your comments about Quebecers are not only totally ignorant but disrespectful and filled with prejudice. It's like saying all italians are crooks or jews greedy.
I believed your train of thought disappeared in the 1950's. Maybe you should evolve and open your mind and realize that people can be different from you and your reality.
godmode: My old man bought that same TV four month ago at Costco and paid 2399$ if I remember correctly. I'm more of a plasma fan but this 120hz tv with 4ms response time is really nice. Colors are vibrant and fast movement is crisp and clean which is great for fast paced action like sports or movies. Sound quality IMO is subpar.

Nothing missing.
Best Buy in Quebec is NOT calling the July 1st sale the Canada Day Sale... it's the Moving Day Sale.
I for one, do not care how big this moving day culture thing is with leases expiring, etc.... its still CANADA DAY for pete's sake !!!
