I am very interested in cell phone industry and I just have a question about it. I know that there are many people working as sales reps and it's based on minimum wage + commision, but I was told that with some dealer store, sales rep just get minimum wage without commision.
so my question is,
Is it common to work as a sales person without getting commission at these cell phone store? (wind, chat-r, mobile city and public mobile) and would you like to work without commision and just get minimum wage?
just want to hear people's opinion about it. I would appreciate all your opinions. Thank you!

I worked with capital M w/o commision for a short period of time.
Usually if you are working for dealerships, you have less/zero comission compared to the store.
If you are so interested, why not? You move up from there. You can always negotiate if your boss you show that you can sell.

i work for best buy mobile.... and if we hit 80% activations we are either not getting anything because we are non-commissioned, or the managers will keep it lol.. idk....
and although we're non-commissioned we are still expected to sell a product exchange plan and accessories with every sale...
so as much as we are non-commissioned and non-pressure sales approach, we are still expected to pressure a bit... lol_______________

Some dealerships offer a % of Gross Profit to their sales reps (assuming of course that said % would exceed the equivalent of minimum wage for that hour as these reps are usually asked to do non-commissioned activities as well)
I know several dealers that offer both Min + Commision or % of GP...these dealerships ALSO pay better than corporate stores.

Be careful of some brands.
I have a friend working for one of the small companies (public, wind, etc) and he makes $10/hr plus $3 an activation. That's it.
He's lucky if he breaks 30 activations a month. Plus they only give him part time hours.
