Thanks OP for the offer. I just went to Costco to pick up my membership cards. When I went to pick them up, the guy at the front was explaining to me how I should upgrade to the executive membership for an additional $45. He explained that I get 2% rebate off my annual purchases, and if I don't make up to $45 in rebate by the end of the year, I could go to costco with my cheque, and they will give me the $45 refund. So all in all, I got nothing to lose in upgrading...if I go over $45 in rebate, I get to keep it, if I go under, they will bump it up to $45! Plus I got to keep my 25 dollars gift card, which I used up today!

This was explained to me at the Hwy 7 and woodbine costco!!

Pretty good deal in my opinion.

this may be a dumb question but can you bring non member friends/family in with you?

We both were non members when myself and my wife went to costco with a card holder to purchase something.............well the purchase had to be included with the card holder and we paid him later

i went yesterday to get my card ID.. my fiance came with me and she got her card too,even though we do not have the same address on our drivers' licenses

I usually frown upon having to pay to shop but with this I might just sign up for a year.

Awesome! As the primary cardholder and my other half having a card my account was expiring in April so I signed my wife up as a new member. She got the $25 gift card 3 days later in the mail!

On the "Payment" page (the page where you enter your VISA/MC), look at the row marked "Gift Certificate, Coupons, or Costco Cash Card". Enter the coupon code in the coupon box.

I get to "my account" and look at the "payment method" section at the botton. There is not "Gift Certificate, Coupons, or Costco Cash Card" It simply has slots for

Payment Type:
Name on Card:
Expiration Date:
Credit Card Number:


Overall, it is a really lousy and confusing process to sign up. They constantly mix up paths for new registrations and old ones. You keep telling them it's new and they keep asking if you are new. They also make it unclear whether you are just setting up an account or are paying for something. These should be separate dialogs. It is a a really, really, bad design.
