Going to watch this tonight but I noticed the theatre near me is not a "true" IMAX http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayli...-imax-20120716. I'm going to the AMC Kanata theatre http://www.empiretheatres.com/theatr...heatres-kanata. Is it worth it seeing this movie in "fake" IMAX or should I just opt for regular admission?

Just to answer your question....Spoiler alert (hightlight to read):

It was a Neutron Bomb ...NOT a Thermo-Nuclear Bomb. A Thermo-Nuclear bomb burns everything in its blast radius to CRISP!

A Neutron Bomb kills every living thing in its blast radius but leaves most Buildings and none living things intact.

Listen to Paul Hardcastle's "19" (or "Nineteen") one of my favorite tracks...it has an explanation of the Neutron bomb in it...and is one awesome beats song!

I watched the movie 3 times in IMAX already....all within the opening week. First at the Scotiabank IMAX...the BEST IMAX theatre to watch it in IMAX in its original 70mm IMAX glory....as intended. But I had bought the ticket 3 weeks earlier.

Then 2 friends wanted to watch it again on a Tuesday and Thursday...the same week. So watched both at the Empire Theatres Empress walk IMAX...which is digital projection...but it is a FAKE IMAX...still was enjoyable. I would have loved to get Scotiabank IMAX tickets...but this was short notice and I tried, but all shows were sold out for the next 2 weeks...except for some crappy side-viewing seats. Do not watch IMAX from the sides...it's not the same..try to be as Centered as far back as possible to get the full effect.

Each viewing of the movie made me enjoy it better...its like the first time you are in awe...and the second and third time you can focus and anaylze any parts that you missed or lost focus on.

I still love TDK more than this one...just because the story was more solid and because Heath Ledger killed it as the Joker...not even Bane could compete with that performance...and Bane (Tom Hardy) was great in TDKR.

So this was a great ending to the storty arc of the trilogy...left me with a bitter taste in my mouth with the ending though (Nolan was trying to pull off a mystery open ending...like he did with Inception)...but several plot holes.

Ridley Scott recently admitted and was quoted in an article this about the main idea of the movie Promethues and the Engineers plot that had SO MANY people confused and wanting to know the answer...so here is the ANSWER: (Spoilers - highlight to read):

That the real reason the Engineers were upset with the human race was because...it is indicated...Jesus was one of them (an Engineer)..and wanted to better the human race...but instead they Crucified him. This caused the hole ...lets just wipe all humans out element and reason for the Engineers anger. LOL! What were these guys on when they wrote the movie...it was very entertaining ...saw it in IMAX scotiabank and then a couple of more times in Ultra AVX and regular cinema...but it was weak with several plot holes. However, it did leave us asking so many questions...and at least Ridley answered barely this one.

The Joker's intro scene had a bigger impact on the audience and was probably the best way to introduce him as a character, but Bane's intro wins on the scale and epicness IMO.

The CIA was taking in the nuclear physicist into custody and were extraditing him to the U.S, the guys that brought the physicist to the plane were supposed contacts of the CIA (allies you could say), but in actuality, they were Bane's henchmen.

When they came up to the plane in the jeep, the mercenaries told the CIA agent that the extra men they captured and brought with them could tell them the whereabouts of the masked man (Bane, but it was a ruse).

Bane and his mercenaries capture the plane, they use a mercenary who I presume volunteers as a martyr and acts as a double to make it seem like the physicist died in the plane crash, hence why they transferred blood.

The volunteer henchmen asks Bane if they started a fire, Bane tells him that the fire rises. It was all part of the plan to get the fusion reactor and have the nuclear physicist arm it.

I think Bane's intro had greater purpose to the plot, whereas Joker's was more or less just him stealing money.

I agree with your most of your description/explanation of TDKR Bane intro scene except for one part...read it here (spoilers ...so highlight to read my take on it):

Yes, most of that analysis is correct...but first the Henchman did NOT volunteer but was ORDERED/PERSUADED by Bane to BECOME a Martyr.

Second, they transferred the blood between the Nuclear Physicist and a dead body in a body-bag...NOT to the Henchman Martyr. So this means that the dead body was meant to be the evidence of the Physicist...NOT the Martyr Henchman.

I personally think that Bane wanted the Martyr Henchman to sacrifice himself and die as a Martyr so that the authorities investigating the plane wreckage would find the Martyr's body ALONG with the fake-Physicist's body...just to prove to them that Bane's gang had the upper hand and was successful in taking down the plane, and killing both the CIA team and the Physicist (of course the authorities would believe that ...because nobody knew Bane's REAL plan was to kidnap the Physicist and fake his death....while keeping him alive to arm the Neutron Bomb in Gotham....just a smart Bait and switch tactic courtesy of Bane and Talia Al Ghul). That is my interpretation of it.

Here's an interesting fact than some Batman fans might not know:

"Ra's Alghul" is Arabic for "The Boogeyman's Head" (literal Translation). "Ra's" mean head in Arabic and "Alghul" or "Alghool" is the Arabic term for the Boogeyman in Arab folklore.

So yes, Liam Neeson was basically playing an Arab character's role...but as you said since most people do not really know what "Ra's Alghul" really meant...they could get anyone from any country to play him. If they wanted an Arab looking person...they could have gone for Antonio Banderas..like the role he played in the "Thirteenth Warrior" opposite actual Egyptian Actor Omar Sherif.

As, for Bane, yes he was hispanic in the comics...but again most non comic book fans don't know that...so Tom Hardy was nolan's choice...and seems like a great one...his voice mashup of Sean Connery meets Darth Vader is very original and sinister sounding...which is very important as an intimidating thing to the audience...because Hardy will have to portray the strong Bane presence via only his body, Eyes and voice...since you cannot see his mouth from behind the mask which makes it harder to convey a actor's expressions.

From my analysis from the trailers...(THIS COULD BE SPOILER MATERIAL..EVEN THOUGH I AM JUST GUESSING...SO FAIR WARNING..STOP READING IF YOU FEEL THIS MIGHT SPOIL IT FOR YOU)...I think Bane will find out who Batman is, track him down, confront him (probably in the new Batcave hidden under a rebuilt Wayne Manor) and really hurt Bruce in their first encounter...like when he holds the broken batman mask in the trailer (as in the Knightfall comicbook storyline...not sure if he will break his back...but bruce is seen walking with a cane...so it's some real damage) but just not enough to kill him...imprison him (in that strange prison looking place..with the well where Bruce is seen climbing..possibly trying to escape) just to make bruce watch his beloved Gotham become destroyed (in the trailer bruce asks bane why didn't he kill him and Bane replies "When Gotham is ashes..you have my permission to die!")...but then Bruce will rehabilitate himself while trapped/imprisoned (he is seen doing pushups in what seems like a prison cell with bars in the trailer) and finally escape ...then make his comeback as The Dark Knight after the pleading of Commisioner Gordon in a hospital bed that Batman must return (from the trailer...he is either really injured or dying...also not sure why he is telling Bruce this...could it be that Gordon knows or finds out that Bruce is Batman?? ) and also the help and support of Alfred and Lucious Fox..with new gadgets like that Electric pulse gun and new flying toy...the BAT.

I think the events of the movie will imediately start 8 years since Batman vanished off the radar at the end of the Dark Knight (He is being hunted for the Death of Harvey Dent) where everything seems normal on the outside in Gotham (but isn't) but then Bane arrives and causes chaos like the Joker did on Gotham City...releasing prisoners from Arkham Asylum etc. Then, when the people of Gotham feel all hope is lost the call on Batman to return and save them from all the chaos.

Bane could be (as in the comics) part of Ra's Alghul's group and is seeking revenge (with a possible connection to Talia Alghul..Ra's Daughter)...and they may point to or hint at the Lazarus Pit in the movie..where maybe Bruce is healed from his injuries from bane

Cat Woman..I think will be initially siding with Bane since she is seen in prison in the trailer (also in the trailer she whispers into bruce's ear that there is a storm coming...hinting of the imminent attack on Gotham by Bane) ...but she doesn't have the same chaotic views of Bane...she is just a cat burgler stealing from the rich and corrupt (like the 1%) in her view and she has has her own code of conduct...and so is against Bruce wayne..and initially Batman...until everything turns to chaos...so she stops being part of Bane's gang and sides with Batman/Bruce....but at the same time finding it hard to escape Bane's wrath for leaving his group. (From the trailer..she says "You should be just as afraid of him as I am"...and the battle for Gotham is fought when Batman Rises again against Bane to try to stop him...knowing that Bane is a huge mental and physical threat.

Let's see how many correct things I guessed in the plot from watching the trailers and clips.

I still don't like Anne Hathaway as an actress...and feel she was not a perfect fit in my opinon...just like I thought Katie Holmes was miscast in Batman Begins. But we'll see how she does in this role...at least she hopefully will not suck as Catwoman as Halle Berry did in that abomination of a movie.

Also, it's interesting that the Bane defeating batman storyline was called "Knightfall" and the movie takes a cue from that title and reverses it as "The Dark Knight Rises". I like that.

So what do you guys think of my analysis...having not watched the movie myself and those of you who have not also...do you agree with some or all of my points...and what is the plot you expect...besides the general plot of Banes hurting batman and attacking gotham??

This has to be the best superhero movie in the last 30 yrs and I'd say the best series/trilogy ever. It was so well done despite the plot strangeness in the 3rd movie. There needs to be more Batman.

Anyways, what's everyone's favourite Batman comics/shows? For me it's Batman Beyond which was a great tv series and I just started reading comics a bit but I like the darker batman comics like Dark Knight Returns instead of the cheesy stuff from the 40s.

My favorite Batman show is the Batman: Animated Series from the 90's

My favorite Batman comic/graphic novels were Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, the Bane Knightfall story, The Long Halloween, A Death in the Family story arc, The Killing Joke, and Joker.

There are more but those are the first ones to come in mind.

My favorite batman games were Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City for PS3, and Batman and Batman: Return of the Joker for the NES

Like toys from Hasbro? You can also go to Toys R Us, they have a big selection.

If you're looking for high quality figures for display ,try the Silver Snail and other specialized comic shops. The Chinese shops in Chinatown downtown or up in Markham tend to have imports from overseas (think Japan) which are super duper high quality, usually painted by hand and cost quite a pretty penny.

Finally saw it last night. Overall pretty good, but hated the ending. I hate movie endings were they hint at another movie or possible sequel, just like that stupid X-men series. That scene with Alfred at the cafe was sooooo cheesy... come on.

Also, how did that cop at the end get the GPS coordinates? I know who the cop is, just don't wanna spoil it for others here.
