I started my 2 yr contract Dec15 and ask them to credit me my first/second bill. The lady said she couldn't do anything unless I cancel my contract in the grace period and sign up for the 2yr contract again :S

Yes, but if they've already sent out the first bill, they will credit you on the second.

I called in to find out how much to cancel my agreement they said $200 (ends Oct 2013). I told them my intention to switch to prepaid then start a new activation to get the $200GC from superstore. The guy then told me that I could just switch to the $56 plan and save the hassle as he didnt think they'd consider a fido prepaid to fido monthly as a new activation. I asked I thought it was only for 2 year contract holders and he said it was changed recently and that those with iPhone 4, 4S etc and others on 3 year contract are eligible. The only people excluded are those having gotten recent 3 year agreements or iPhone 5's. I ensured that my contract wasn't extended, he said it will take effect on my next billing cycle. I switched one line for now, thinking whether i should still try the port out method on the second line to get the RAZR HD.

RIF, if you're in a 3 year contract and did not recently renew with an iphone 5 or sign a new contract with an iphone 5 then you are eligible for the plan.

i don't think it'll work, i think fido wants prepaid people to go on monthly and hence, the 50% off for 6 months.

also, if you're on chatr and switch to fido post-paid you get 50% off for 6 months as well.

I think the main difference now is Fido is offering One Month Free with new activation.

I believe although Koodo plans may seems like it is month to month, but you will be on Tab paying off the phone.

That's if you do not have a phone already that will work with Koodo, you can ignore the Tab.

On side the note, I signed up with Fido on Dec. 19 and I just gave them a call asking about the free month with new activation.

The CSR put a note on my account, and I just need to call in to obtain the credit after my first bill.

I also highly recommend people who are planning to hop on this deal with Fido to find a friend or family member for a Fido Referral Code.

You can save additional $20 on top towards your bill, and your referral will also receive the same (or in Fido Dollars).


One more thing, some Fido Retail Stores and Authorized Fido Sellers may not have LTE Sim cards in stock.

Please inquire and make sure you can obtain one for free (by asking for a receipt or note on your account), and you can go elsewhere to get it.

If you're an iPhone user, Fido's plan includes iPhone Visual Voice Mail. AFAIK The Koodo plan does not. That only matters though if you're an iPhone user. FWIW, I'm now on the Fido $56 plan and got a couple of credits ($35+$50) for signing a 2 year agreement, and because I brought my own iPhone my ECF is $12.50.

Android users get Visual Voicemail Plus on Fido's $56 plan. It is more clunky than Apple's VVM, but it's better than plain voicemail.

If you cancel your contract wouldn't you have pay $35 cancellation fee even if you in the grace period
