if you look carefully the dial button is kind of ''greyed out'' meaning that the account has not been activated yet. I had this before and it took several hours to get the account enabled and functional

The number is greyed out only when I pointed on it. I could make the call by copying the phone numbers to there and press the call button. The Call and End buttons are working for me except the numbers.

I was out of my local area, used dell voice for few calls. But end up using my regular cell tower and paid long distance charges as there was initial delays and sound was barely audible though clear. you have to listen so carefully and then shout back.
Hopefully they will improve soon.

Dell Voice like any other VOIP product, the place you use your service DOES NO MATTER (as long as you are connected to the internet). It only matters WHERE YOU CALL TO. Dell Voice is a product that offers free calling TO most places in Canada. So whether you use Dell Voice in the U.S./China/Australia...this doesn't change the product which offers free calling to numbers in CANADA.

So if you want to call a U.S. number, you will need to have money on the account, so yes you will need to top up. If you are to call a number in Canada, then this would be free. IT does not matter if you are in Canada or the U.S.

just one comment, if the person in the US that you are calling also has a Dell Voice number, then the call is free.

I tested both on a Samsung Galaxy S on Android 2.3.3 and a Samsung Gio on 2.3.5 and it does not matter whether it is on 3G or Wifi, Dell Voice would disconnect and exit after something like an hour or so. I need to re-launch the program several times a day to make sure it is running.

It does not seem to happen on my wife's iphone 3GS on IOS5 though.

Both of my two Samsung phones above used to have JuiceDefender power management program. Initially I thought it was the culprit so I uninstalled it on both phones and powered off and restart them but so far, no luck.

I have juiceDefender on my HTC Panache and Dell Voice does not disconnect thruout the day. When I leave my house, I can see Dell Voice is logged off but when I come home, it automatically connect.

I'm having same issue Dell voice desktop app. The dial pad doesn't do anything. I click on the numbers but nothing happens. Yet when I paste the phone number it works and dials out.

I've signed up my dad with the Dell Voice service and signed up with a Vancouver number which is an area code 778 number (my dad has a few friends in Vancouver).

This step is kind of complex and confusing to some, but I can dial certain toll-free numbers which are based in Ontario and Quebec from a 778 number when using the Dell Voice service (at no cost!).

Here are the numbers that I had dialed when testing out a 778-based number:

I'm having same issue Dell voice desktop app. The dial pad doesn't do anything. I click on the numbers but nothing happens. Yet when I paste the phone number it works and dials out.

I have the exact same problem. The desktop app is broken.

I think you would have to "Force Stop" It.

I think there's an app for Android where It's called "App Killer" where you can checkmark what apps you want stop because you ain't using It and what not so your battery Is going to be drained faster then It should be!

in settings account, menu, exit. there's an update today that puts the exit on the main settings screen menu.

A bit off topic, but anybody on WIND Mobile having trouble forwarding their numbers the past 2 days? When I first signed up for Dell Voice 3-4 days ago, call forwarding was fine. When I needed it last night, it wouldn't work and is still not working. I can't forward to my Rogers line, home phone, or Dell Voice number. Called WIND to refresh my account twice, but still no dice. Any input from WIND users would be great~

I just tested forwarding of my WIND Mobile to my Dell Voice # and called my WIND number from a landline and it worked. Though from the land ine it was ringing about 2-3 times before the Dell Voice app starting ringing, so there is a bit of a lag, but still successful.

What phone are you using?

Well since the Dell Voice app only allows you to get a Canadian number from it, this point is a bit irrelavent since calls to most Canadian numbers are free as one can only get a Canadian number with Dell Voice.

Dell Voice like any voip product can physically be used ANYWHERE in the world as long as you have an internet connection. So even if the two parties calling each other are physically in the U.S. using Dell Voice, as far as Dell Voice is concerned, this is a Canada-to-Canada call which is free as the product is designed to be.
