Now they've posted a new version of DV for Android, 1.2.7. I can now place a call via WiFi but when the recipient answers I can hear them but they can't hear me.

I wonder if the free Dell Voice app on smart phones is using the same network/server as the clients with paid config files (so we use ATA devices with home phones or other SIP softphones on smartphones such as fring). I thought the point of paying the $50 config file setting is to get better quality of the service? Anyway, I used my sip configuration on Fring and Media5-fone, tried both iPhone 4S and Android phones, tried both Wifi and 3G, the quality is excellent. My guess is the DV app is using the same with the PC version, so the quality is not as good as the one used by the paid clients.

Which router do you guys recommend to go along with a PAP2T-NA that is destined for FreePhoneLine?
I'm currently using a D-LINK WBR-1310 , but I doubt it's good enough...

If I'm going to be upgrading to 16 Mbps DSL service, how much bandwidth should I reserve for the PAP2 device? TIA.

I haven't found any particular routers that don't work. The problem arises when somebody leeches large amounts of data, squeezing out VoIP traffic. Some are nicer/easier to setup than others, and some have fancy features (QoS) but they all seemed to work otherwise.
On G711u, you use up 64kbps I believe and G729 at 8kbps. If you have access to bandwidth/priority management, I've configured to guarantee 100-150kbps with priority 6.
DD-WRT, Tomato, OpenWRT, etc are all great firmware versions but not necessary for "normal" use. If you're traffic heavy with torrents/etc, then you may want to look at modified firmware and/or a router with QoS. Alternatively, you can get a smart/managed switch to control priority too.Last edited by Ice; Feb 14th, 2012 at 10:19 AM.

I had a trendnet router (I forget the model #) that did not like VOIP at all. After months of struggles, pbxes workarounds, and countless hours lost with VOIP.MS tech support, I bought another router that was known to be VOIP-friendly and my problems magically disappeared. That technet router was a relatively new gigabyte model, had a DMZ, QoS, etc. I have a 50GB cap on my account that I never come near so I don't leech large amounts of data. It just could not co-exist with VOIP.
I think I even posted my woes on RFD's VOIP.MS thread hoping for some relief. In the end I gave up.Last edited by Phils; Feb 15th, 2012 at 06:51 PM.

How does voicemail work?
I click the voicemail button, it calls *98, the call is connected...then I get silence. How do I pick up my messages?
I figured out how to set my password (3...2...1...ENTER PASSWORD....#). Then I can back out of that menu, and eventually get to my voicemail messages.
But that, surely, can't be the normal routine required to get yr messages.
Anyone can help? TIA.

Once you connect to voicemail, you enter your password and then 1 to review your messages.
