And Brickfete is looking like a really good display this year. Lots of new builders displaying for the first time, making it a DO NOT MISS EVENT!!

WHAT A BLAST!! Talked with alot of LEGO fans, of all ages. If you missed it, I would expect the response was big enough to ensure the organizer will ensure we have a 3rd year!!! I think between all the adult builders on display (~100) there was at least 1 of almost anything you could think of, if not 2.

I got one of the sets that I ordered from Amazon.co.uk yesterday. There were no additional charges and the box came in perfect condition (investment grade, as my brother calls it). The set that arrived came by Deutsche Post DHL with final delivery by Canada Post. No UPS crap to deal with. So seems like Amazon.co.uk is a good way to go, in cases where they'll actually ship a particular set to Canada.

Mine was sent via UPS.. set cost $65 (police forest one) which was a great deal but then I got nailed for $20 in fees.. so basically it went from an awesome deal to an ok deal.

Yes and there is no consitancy in the shipping from amazon.* - sometimes they will go postal/dhl and sometimes UPS - same item/same amazon source - so hopefully the good deals outweight the 'ok deals'.

Checked out some of the liquidation Zellers stores for lego stock recently:
Burlington Mall - not much lego there, only a few things (city, aliens)
Hamilton, Upper James/Rymal - lots of stock on various themes.
Both are only at 20% discount. Anyone know when the discounts are scheduled to go up? May be some decent buys if it hits 40%.

w/o knowing your location it's hard for us to know what is 'local'. not all Costcos carry the same goods.

Not really a deal but I see that Lego has the new Star Wars sets available. I've been waiting a while for the Jabba's Palace set, but the price seems a bit high ($149) for the number of peices (717). Maybe if it included the Rancor it would be worth it...

Rancor set will be out next year, and it can be combined with Jabba's Palace.

Still not really worth it for $149. The Echo Base set has more peices and costs less money.
