Goooood News
I could not beleive Rogers never thought of this loophole. No matter what you do or which one of the plans you choose if you cancel you only pay $200+tax to cancel. Also if you choose a plan the first year is free on the following plans
$45 for 700 day + even and weekend at 8
OR
$50 for 700 day + even and weekend at 6
Its a no brainer. Go for 50 and then downgrade if you wish in next December to the 45 or any plan that is out there or if you wish cancel all together you can do that too. Maybe you can even negotiate a better deal at that time which I doubt but who know what telus will be throwing at us loyal Rogers customers.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked mk316 for this post.

K
This is what I asked.
What is the penalty if in the first year I decide to cancel my contract, if say I no longer want a cell phone?
She said $20per month for a max of $200+tax
Can I change the plan at the end of the first year say downgrade perhaps?
She said sure that is possible too.
Take it as you wish but it sounds wayyy too goood. I'm really thinking of signing up for this.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked mk316 for this post.

from what i've read before, if you cancel you plan you have to pay the $200 cancelation fee + whatever discounts you got on your cell phone. (so if you signed up for 3 years, and saving about $50/year on your phone its $150
So its $200 cancelation free + $6.95 SAF x 12 + $100(2 year savings on the phone) = $383.4 for 1 year of service + the phone._______________

----------------------------------------------
I just helped my bud get on the same $45/month, 1st year free plan. It seems like thats the plan they are offering now.
OPTION 1
-$45/month
-700 wkday minutes
-eve/wknds free after 8PM (you can get 6PM for an addition $5/month)
-NO caller ID
-3 year contract with the 1st year free (Just have to pay for $6.95 SAF and $0.50 911)
-After 1st year you are free to downgrade your plan to something cheaper
-Free phone: Nokia 3220 or Motorola V220 or SE T637 (You still have to pay $35 admin fee)
OPTION 2
-$20/month
-250 wkday minutes
-eve/wkds free after 8pm (you can get 6pm for an additional $5/month)
-Free Caller ID
-3 year contract with 1st year of unlimited talk time
-Free Phone: Not sure about this, since i went with option 1
-----------------------------------------------------
Note:
- IMO I think Option 1 is way better. You get 1 year of free service with 700 min of talk time. Only thing that sucks is no Caller ID.
-After that 1 year on Option 1, youre able to downgrade to something cheaper
-You might be able to get that $35 admin fee waived on the free phone if youre good/lucky

Dec 9th, 2004 01:51 AM #757ACtually, thats exactly what the relations dept told me! They advised that then I should downgrade if I want to! and this way take advantage of free offer! Better sign up now before they come and think it fully!

I was at a Telus store yesterday and was looking into their conversion deal, Rogers --> Telus and I was very interested. Right now I'm not too happy with Rogers and never truly have been. They always seem to try and screw me over someway, somehow. Plus I've wanting a brand new phone and by going with Telus I'd be able to get one. I'm not too sure yet but Telus does offer a nice deal with extra perks and such. I'm just wondering about their coverage. I'll be looking into this further. If I do not go with Telus I'll be telling Rogers that I want to cancel. Remember, this deal ends December 17th so if you want Rogers to match deals you gotta move fast!

There are not special contracts for different plans it is just a generic one they use that has these maximums in it. Also for those that signed up did you actually get a contract in the mail for you to sign and mail back to them??
Thanks guys hope some of you can benefit. We have pumped enough money into Rogers its about time we got some deals back. New cell users you gotta pay your dues before you can bargain with some power like the rest of us.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked mk316 for this post.

Rogers is a very good company as you can see on this thread... if you don't like them, then why not jump to Telus? There is no perfect company. I personally like the flexibility/features of GSM and Rogers keeps me happy... other people, however, swear by Telus and there's nothing wrong with that, especially if you can get a good deal!

Is this a definate new plan they're giving out, or is this what you got offered? I'm just saying this because in the past few weeks, there are many variations on the "Options" you mentioned that got offered.
