[Merged] Jeremy Lin - Wasted Harvard degree or potential star in the making ?
Now that he's been signed with the Warriors. What you guys think of him?
Checked out his highlights from his Harvard days and he seems more of a SG more then a PG. Which I think should fit well with the Warriors. He does have a nice driving game and a nice floating shot to go along with it.
With the rising of Curry and a Ellis backcourt, I don't think he'll get any significant minute at all.
My guess is unless there is a injury to the Warriors starting backcourt, he would be in the D-league for development purpose. He would definitely need to get some size on his frame, or he's gonna get abuse on D.
What do you think ?

dude is making history being the first american born asian to play in the NBA.
Myself being an asian is proud of this guy cause it's pretty damn impressive for him to make the NBA.
Let's see he's making 500k first year as an NBA player.
How much do you think he would make with his degree in Economics from Harvard? I doubt it would be more than 500k a year.

I honestly think the only reason he's even talked about is because of his last name. Don't get me wrong, I'm Asian too and pretty ecstatic that an American born Asian is in the NBA but his game is nothing special at all.
His ceiling is a decent role player which is why he was drafted late second round.

correction...he was undrafted and made a squad from what he did in Summer League.
With the Warriors squad the way it is... I can see him get some minutes if Nelson doesn't ride Ellis and Curry the whole game.
As for a wasted Havard education...hardly. Most players are only productive as an NBA player from the time they enter the league til they're about 35. Jeremy Lin won't be a major star...but he'd make a nice living even as a bench player. And if it doesn't work out he'll always have his education to fall back on.

Nelson is in love with giving minutes to unproven guys...Lin was smart to pick GSW

yea based on the highlights seen in the summer league there is no way he can be at all-star level

He will become a role player imo. I think it is a great move on both the player and GSW. Lin will make the money and GSW can market him to the asian community. If you have ever been to a Toronto vs Houston game, approx 80% of the fans are cheering for Yao

He's also a home town kid and they have a pretty big Chinese community.
He's okay maybe on par with Sasha Vujacic now.

That's true. I followed his last season in Harvard just because I want him to succeed as an Asian-American in the NBA. However, he's made a name for himself in summer league.

Jeremy Lin's a solid defender showing tremendous hustle. Every Asian baller will now live their fantasies through him

It's awesome that he's making history. But is it for the right reasons ? Sure, he had a good summer league. No doubt about that. Especially with all the media attention he is getting because he is an undrafted asian. If you take a second to think about the whole deal, doesn't this signing seem more of a PR move by the Warriors than anything else.
The chances are his contract is non-guaranteed and like the other member said about GSW marketing him into the asian community.. Which means if attendance don't improve at the Oracle this season, we probably won't see him in the NBA again... And if that happens, he'll be remembered as the "first american born asian" who got cut the first season.

His contract includes some guaranteed money which is why he took the GSW offer rather than the other teams that were vying for his services.
You're right it could be a PR move just to attract media/attendance, but don't deny the fact that he can play.

lol, love all the hate.
This guys got a degree from harvard, an entry level nba contract, and enough skill to seriously contend for minutes.
I think he's doing pretty well for himself.
