This is something that I really hate Samsung, the vanilla android comes with multi-lanugauage support, now I almost have to buy an expensive iphone for parents just because of that
One of the problem is that they make too many models and versions which are sold in different regions so it seems the T989D was only meant for Canada so why put a bunch of languages. Samsung models are very confusing to figure out. Nevertheless, I still like this phone although not very impressed with the audio quality for listening to music.

USA and Canada are both immigrant countries so it make sense to include all the languages, than anywhere else.

I just checked the Koodoo Kiosk. They are no longer giving out the $100 gift card.

That's what OP said last week. Did you try at other retailers like the ones inside RCSS? When I went to pick up my phone yesterday they still had the stickers on all the phones.

The gift card that you get from Koodo, can it be used to pay off the tab? That $150 you owe when you cancel? Or FS/BB/RCSS?

When you cancel the line, Koodo will send you a final bill. Not sure if you can use a prepaid Visa to pay the bill though. Maybe if you can still sign into your Koodo account online. It's easier if you find a retailer that will let you pay off the upfront portion with the GC. Just ported out to Speakout today as I wanted to keep the Koodo number, but they are saying 3 days to port in wtf... oh well.

Yeah, that's exactly what I though. You know, I am now 9 year old and I don't, and/or can't afford a phone right now. I can wait a few years till I get older and by that time S10 will be on the market, and S2X, S3, S... will be free (or a free gift when you get a coffee), then it will be the time I get a phone!!!

Just kidding, I just got one last Saturday and love it. Unlocked and used it with SpeakOut data right now.
What kind of speed do you get with Speakout?

It shows 4G and the speed is faster than two other phones (Galaxy S Capticate and HTC One V) I have with them. I don't know if it is b/c it has faster CPU or not. When I check with SpeedTest, I got 9.5Mbps for download, but have problem locking in with GPS signal.

ouch, so they ended up charging you the whole $20 for the month? as an RFDer I guess you can still file a complaint to try and get a portion of your $20 back but maybe that's pushing it after getting $100 GC and not staying...

Call them and tell them you ported out but got charged for the whole month.
It happened to me too when I ported to Bell prepaid and they took off $20.

It has nothing to do with the CPU but the extra HSPA+ signal I believe. I have the same GPS problem. Took me 10 to 15 minutes to get a lock.

For all the people having GPS issues (and assuming you want to stay as close to stock as possible), try this rom It is the stock koodo rom that has been lightly tweaked for better speed/smoothness and best of all, there is a built-in GPS fix that works great. I am running this rom and I just locked onto 14 satellites within 30 seconds, indoors on the second floor (and this the first try at locking onto GPS after a reboot).
Can I do the GPS fix without rooting? Just too lazy to root ;)
