Yes the dry loop promotion is for the first term(month or year) whatever you sign up for. After that it is $8.00 per month plus tax. Still cheaper than having a phone line though

Thanks LynnAnne. So maximum subsidy is just for a year then since it seems the maximum term is one year? Maybe they will allow two or more? LOL.

So you have a flat rate of $8 for dry loop? No band charge? If I go dry loop with Tek my band is F and the charge per month is $16.10.

Here's the response I got from Acanac. I guess after the first year, the one thing good with Acanac would be unlimited data usage.
Thank you for taking the time to contact Acanac-Inc.
Then longest term we currently offer is 12 months. After the initial 12 month term at the promotional price is completed it will move to the regular rate. The regular rate is $33.95 plus tax per month on a 12 month term. The dryloop would then be charged at a rate of $8.00 plus tax per month. This is payable in 12, 6, 3 month plans or monthly as well. There is no discount on paying the dryloop service in bulk.
As you are a TekSavvy Subscriber, should you change over to our services, you will qualify for the dryloop promotion. If you have further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Confirmed that for the 25 Mbps service, an $8/month Cellpipe modem lease is required. I went for the 16 Mbps and dropped my MLPPP service.
Now, is there a way for me to share less when Bittorrenting? I tried on my client but somehow it didn't seem to matter where I set the limit in KB/s. Maybe a close and reopening of the client was required?

Is Teksavvy bad In your area or something? It seems like you want to switch to Acanac!

Has anyone upgraded from the 6mbps package to 12mbps with teksavvy? Did the charge an upgrade fee? Does it require new modem to support speed increase (currently running thomson speedtouch 516 modem).

I don't think It would be a upgrade fee but would be a "Account Changes" fee of $5 as I just checked on the site.. As for the modem.. I think It would be good In regards to handling 12 mbps.. Not sure about the higher up packages where the speeds are 24 mbps etc..
Just checked your modem and It supports up to 24 mbps. CLICK HERE!

I would only switch to Acanac if the waiver of the dry loop fee was indefinite. It turns out, it's only good for the first service term. Because so many people are switching out of Teksavvy, I figured I might as well stay with them. After the first year, the monthly fee difference between the two ISP would only be around $3-5. I'm no techie but it seems that only Teksavvy, among many, has upgraded its infrastructure to accommodate higher than 6Mbps throughput. Not sure if that helps subscribers but at least I'm thinking, service would be more reliable and speed consistent with better apparatus.
Also, the 300GB is really almost unlimited if I time my downloads right to take advantage of the off-peak hours.

I upgraded to 16 Mbps just today. No, you don't need to pay an upgrade fee (likely you have been on that tier for months) and your modem should be fine. My TP-8616 also has a top speed of 20 Mbps so there is no need for a modem unpgrade.

Acanac, Inc
The free dry loop is a promotion. That is why it is only good for your first term.

Hi LynnAnneP,
Thanks for clarifying. What about the monthly charges, would it remain at $28/month if paid upfront every year? Or is this also a promotion like the waived dry loop fee that will no be available upon renewal (of a year's worth of service)?

Does any tech need to come to my house or is it all done remotely? I am thinking of switching from 5 Mbps Dsl to either 12 or 16 Mbps Dsl. Is there any fees to change speeds, if I am an existing Teksavvy customer(It seems to be no according to you)? Thanks.

There's a $95 fee (Bell charge they said) but there is no $25 change service fee.
Two Bell Technicians will come. The first visit, at least for me, is between 12-5pm and the next between 5-9pm. They need access to the demarcation point so I'm not sure if they will require entry into my house.

Depends on how old your house is. Most of the newer homes have a grey box outside for the Demarc.
