I suppose @soul_taker's idea to act angry and demand it be waived may be the only choice then. Of course, there's a less practical option too (in the fine print at the very bottom of their notice):
*Under applicable law, if you currently have a package that will be experiencing changes to pricing or other terms, and you do not agree to the revised pricing or other terms, your sole remedy is to cancel that service, without cost, penalty or termination indemnity, by sending us a notice to that effect no later than 30 days after the amendments come into force._______________

Yeah, I noticed that. I recall asking them once if they had a bandwidth tracker, as I wanted to know how much I was actually using, and they said "... we do not have access to a bandwith tracker from Rogers yet."
When I asked them how they would know if I ever went over the 300GB cap, I never got a reply back
I wonder how far we can take that as license to blow through the 300GB?
They must have some (even if limited) capability to track bandwidth, if they can offer 300GB vs. Unlimited packages. Unless that's purely a marketing ploy?Last edited by ronin1701; Jan 4th, 2012 at 12:06 PM.

It's not only TekSavvy changing prices but all third party ISPs will be changing prices because of the latest ruling from Bell. So basically caps were somewhat thrown out the window but now they charge TSI differently depending on usage.

Oh, No, I was just about switching from Bell to Teksavvy, now they are increasing price too, adding the dry loop fee, I am almost run out of options for cheap internet with decent Caps.

Yes if you want to go from say...6Mbit DSL to 12/16/25Mbit tier you have to pay a $99 "start-up" fee. Right now I am on 5Mbit with 300GB and price will be going up $3 and change. My new bill will be $49.82 per month (with my B Band dryloop) for a piddly little 6Mbit connection. How much can you get done between 2-8 AM on a 6mbit connection? 4-5 gigs? I figure I might as well just pay $12.43 more for the 16Mbit/300GB tier. Enjoy the faster speeds and configure my Usenet downloads to really take advantage of the 2-8 AM free time.
Going to suck but there's no way around eating the $99 fee. At least the TP-LINK 8816 should be good enough for the 16Mbit tier, so that's one less cost I have to pay on top of the rest.

Ive always stuck with TS unlimited for peace of mind and to support them even though I generally only use about 150/month on average these days (I used to go over the 300 cap often, but for the past year or so that has changed for a variety of reasons)
With the added $7/month though I think ill drop to the 300

Am I reading correctly that they are going to increase the cable "Express" from 10 to 12 Mbps (as well as the price of course)?
