Interesting information, it makes sense. However doesn't the below link suggest that the drug some how transfer hopes and aspiration to the parents of the child?

Im not sure if obay.info is an official website, but its a link to the "Commodiphiles online market place". Seems a little unprofessional for a drug company.

As I said before, the ad is not about a drug. The 'drug' is a make up story to tell parents that making your kid to 'obey' is not the way to go. I believe it is a community education campaign to make parents not to force the kid to obey them without reasoning, etc.
Obey, Obay, get it??
Obey (or Obay) forces your children to lose their own dream. I think that is the message._______________

My vote is for it having to do with a new tv show or magazine or something else media related for youth.

it's probably just market research. put out an ad, see how many people will google obay. use that as a gauge to see how effective advertising on the ttc is.

That would be a VERY expensive way to conduct market research.
BTW, this thread is #3 at http://www.google.ca/search?q=obay

Personally I did not take the ad to be from a drug company. I really don't know who is behind it and its part of the reason I like it. The reason I said what I said was because Tijuana suggested it was similar to vague commercials produced by Cialis. If you read my other post you would have noticed I don't support giving kids drugs to "cure" or "help" with ADHD. I think thats what these commercials are poking fun at regardless of their true purpose. I remember December before last, bell bought all sorts of prime billboard signs and just left a wrapped present. As xmas came closer it was revealed that it was bell. They managed to get facebook groups going and people wondering who the heck is behind it. Sh1t even Zanta had a billboard that said "Merry Christmess". After seeing the "charmin toiletpaper" sample booth in times square NYC I don't think a real marketing concept has budget limits. I am also being VERY literal with the "sample" part, they have clean toilets for you to test em out.

Zanta has admitted he has smoked crack at some point in his life, you really think he could afford this?
Honestly, I prefer ads with a bit of humor then just style or appealing colors. Unfortunately I have not noticed any of these ads, and rfd has now killed the novelty of it.Last edited by GangStarr; Feb 16th, 2008 at 02:53 AM.

Yes but rule 3 of marketing is that you get your message across to the viewer in a fast and efficient way.
Rule 6 - Your Message has a half-life - marketing campaigns are very short lived - its got to be fast - cheap and effective you can't keep this up forever- someone is bound to pass you up.
This marketing plan is bad, Short-lived - Yes - Stirling up WTF is that is a good way TODAY but they got to back that up quick cause in 1 month ( or the 6 week cycle TTC ads run) PART 2 - people will OK thats what it meant and walk away. Message FAILED
2 part campaigns work together like walking one after the other no gaps fluid motion. TTC wall ads not a good Idea - ok subway cars put OBEY ads and in the stations put the message ... Simple as that .. look at that orange juice one that they did in the summer I think it was Pepsi brand ... or fruitopia Flooded the Cars with the ads and Bloor Station with the message + gave out free samples at Union - That deserves a clap not this ... People walking up and down cars reading each message with its funky design and when they stepped out the got move - it was like a stalker ... followed the reader around till they bought it and said yea that was a good drink.
I bet this is some stupid Internet site or a private school learning for the ******* center.

You're misinformed yourself,
http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/alt_for.../e_e-drugs.pdf20-4-93 C.01.044. (1) Where a person advertises to the general public a Schedule F Drug, the person shall not make any
representation other than with respect to the brand name, proper name, common name, price and quantity of the
drug.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply where
(a) the drug is listed in Part II of Schedule F; and
4-8-93 (b) the drug is
(i) in a form not suitable for human use, or
(ii) labelled in the manner prescribed by paragraph C.01.046(b).
Obay is nothing more than a viral ad as others have stated.

1-888-YOU-OBAY.. It plays an interesting message!

But they'rs a small cap bottle in the ad with the words "OBAY". So if it aint a drug then why have that small bottle that looks like a drug bottle from tylenol?
One thing is making us guess, but that bottle doesnt really make you think its not a drug. Whatever it is, it didnt get my attention only reason I noticed it was because I read it here.
As I dont take the TTC because I save $$$ owning a car I prefer reading the exit signs then getting splurged with propaganda. heh, TTC.
