[Merged] Official Board Game Thread

Just picked up a really fun board game and was kinda surprised that I couldn't find an "official" thread for board games in this section so I figured I'd start one for those of you who want to suggest any good board games to the rest of us "old fashioned" gamers. And of course in the grand tradition of RFD, please also post any links to good board game deals.

I'll start it off with my top three...

#1 - Roll Through The Ages: The Bronze Age (Highly Recommended!)
Easy to learn but lots of strategies are possible. It's kind of like a cross between Yahtzee and a Civ game. Players roll dice to obtain commodities and workers to build up their civilizations. Dice can be rerolled twice unless they come up as a hazard. Players use their workers to build infrastructure to support additional works or to build monuments that are worth points. At the same time commodities are gathered which allow your civilization to develop. Once all monuments or five developments are achieved by a player the game ends at the end of the round, points are counted, and a victor is declared.

#2 - Pandemic
You are specialists at the CDC/Atlanta where you watch several virulent diseases break out simultaneously all over the world. The team mission is to prevent a world-wide pandemic outbreak, treating hotspots while researching cures for each of the four plagues before they get out of hand.

Players must plan their strategy to mesh their specialist's strengths before the diseases overwhelm the world. For example, the Operations Specialist can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases. The Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5. But the diseases are breaking out fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while developing cures. If disease spreads uncontrolled, the players all lose. If they can cure all four diseases, they win.

#3 - Risk: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition
A new version of Risk, with the following differences:
  • The map is of Middle Earth, and the tokens represent armies of that fictional world.
  • You play either good or evil.
  • Leaders, missions and sites of power have been added.
  • The One Ring acts as a timing mechanism, when it leaves the board, the game ends.

I've heard a lot of good things about the European strategy games like Catan and Carcassone.

There's always Monopoly, the game that has ended many friendships!

I've played Taboo a few times and it's pretty fun. I'm pretty good at it!

Help me
I've recently started to play 2 board games with a good friends of mine.

We play Carcassonne and Agricola. If there are any other RFDers who play I'd like to know so we can talk strategy.
