PF Changs doesn't compete with authentic chinese restaurants. Heck, it doesn't even compete with places like C'est Bon, Manchu Wok, or House of Chan. It's going to compete with Joeys, Boston Pizza, Alice Fazoolis, Outback Steakhouse ... Caucasians will eat it up ... especially in that neighbourhood.

What he said minus the Caucasians will eat it up part...its pretty diverse crowd at Shops @ Don Mills.
Expect it to be overpriced like many restos in the area, and more of social place to be seen rather than a place to get a great value.

oh and don't forget hiring beautiful looking waitresse and bar girls to provide service and mix drinks....all while dressed in tight outfits and skirts..

OP please update title, PF Changs is officially open @ Shops at Don Mills as of July 26, me and the "team" are having our biz meeting slash lunch this afternoon, stay tuned for mini review.....and i'll keep you posted on quality of food/decor and waitresses.

Still can't seeing us ever going....

After a month in China, need to find some good Sichuan (though don't need any more rabbit heads) and Yunnan restaurants, need to find containers of stinky tofu (made several recipes with a shanghaiese chef and want to replicate), and practice making some Yangshuo beer fish....

To me after reading it - reminds me of Spring Rolls. But, it is in a nice chique part of Toronto so P.F. Chang's will do very, very well surrounded by Bier Market, Joeys, and Glow.

Prices appear to be way higher than those in the US, except for the for the chicken lettuce wraps. Liked her comment about scary bathrooms.

The pics in that review make it look better than it is, Food was ok, didn't find it overy greasy like like other spots. Prices are high but in line with whats in the area, i'd have to give a thumbs down for waitresses, they were just averageto me, bartenders were cute however.
It seems they may have brought in some staff from the US, so that could be temporary til they get the local staff hired and trained.

The batrooms weren't that odd or scary, in line with teh decor of teh restaurant, what I found weird is that everything in the washrooms is touchless, taps, soap, dryer, but you have to touch the door handles to open them.

Its definitely a place to be seen and show off your ride, the day I went just in front of the spot and in valet we saw a late model Bentley, Ferarri, Aston Martin and Panamera...over a mill in cars right there.

You mean over at Joeys? Or at PF Changs? The Valet spots are for Joeys I believe.

who cares if it's authentic or not as long you like eating it? I'm chinese, but I also really like mandarin once in a while, why does being authentic even matter at all? shouldn't it be whether you find it delicious/enjoyable?

I could be eating authentic chinese/italian/etc.. food but if i don't like it, it doesn't matter

for once we agree on something world peace is next... authentic as a measure is overrated

PF Changs offers their own valet 7 days a week. The other restaurants might have it on weekends only.

Those prices are outrageous. This is coming from someone who ate at the Walden Galleria location. The decor was nice but the food wasn't anything special at all.

maybe people are willing to pay extra just to sit in a clean, attractive restaurant
and deal with restaurant staff who can speak English
