My current promotion is 20% off internet, cable with HDPVR, HD and SD.
Going to look at Bell, Teksavvy and Shaw.

My cancelling call turn into a 1.5 hour conversation where i might reconsider Rogers.
I recently called in to cancel my Rogers TV bc they screwed me over. I am paying for basic cable (Channels1-28) at 34/month tax-in but i was getting channels (1-75) b/c the last technician's error.
I told the lady I wanted to cancel bc i wasn't going to pay for channels that I don't watch and I can just get MediaHub and stream my shows at this point. (didn't tell her streaming part).
She offered me:
DIGITAL VIP PACKAGE 30% off
Home Phone 15% off
+ SD Digital Box
$85/month (12 month term)
or
Same Package except I will get HD Digital NEXTBox
$89/month (12 month term)
What do you guys think?_______________

I currently have Digital Plus with 25% off and one free HDPVR rental and one free SDPVR rental.
Recently (in March), I was told that I can add another two boxes on my account for free (as long as they are different) until the end of my contract (Sept. of this year) I did not order anymore terminals at the time.
Today I called them and was offered a free SDPVR to keep. In addition to the free rentals I currently have.
I was told that they can't give away HDPVRs though. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck in getting more than one box to keep (not free rental).
Should I even bother to call again to see if they can give me another HDPVR/SDPVR to keep? (I should have asked at the time but forgot)._______________

I just realized Rogers increase price during my 2 years contract unilaterally (of course they did send a notice of some kind that went to the junkmail)
I called to CSR and got through to a manager that doesn't let me cancel the contract because I agreed to the discount rate and agreed that "price is subject to change"
I am following the post from: How to Terminate your Rogers TV, Internet, Home Phone (and possibly Wireless) Contracts.. NOW.
Since I already talked to the manager and she's not letting me, what steps do you think I should take?
I cant find the Ontario law the blog is talking about.
It says:
But I cant find a copy of that wording in Consumer Protection Act, 2002CPA 42.(2).2 within the Amend*ment, renewal or exten*sion in accor*dance with con*sumer agreement;
2. The agree*ment gives the con*sumer at least one of the fol*low*ing alter*na*tives to accept*ing the supplier’s pro*posal to amend, renew or extend:
i. ter*mi*nat*ing the agree*ment, or
ii. retain*ing the exist*ing agree*ment unchanged.
Not sure where 42.(2).2 is from, can anyone provide a link?Requirements for direct agreements
42. Every direct agreement shall be in writing, shall be delivered to the consumer and shall be made in accordance with the prescribed requirements. 2002, c. 30, Sched. A, s. 42.
Should I make an official complain to CRTC or CCTS or something?

I just got off the phone with them. For $45.09 including tax, I get Digital Basic, free rental for a year, and Fairchild channel. I don't need any more channels than that so I guess it's good enough for me.

I called in today to cancel my cable services since my 1 year term ends in 30 days and I'm supposed to give that many days notice. I was told I would have to pay an early cancellation fee of $20. Is this normal? I'm already paying my service a month in advance.
UPDATE
I called back today and talked to someone in retentions who was able to credit that cancellation fee. I guess it just depends on who you talk to.Last edited by realchinshady; May 23rd, 2012 at 02:14 PM.

I have the 300GB Rogers Hi-Speed Express for 68.99$ a month and rent the modem for 4$. I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting 50% off on the old Hi-Speed Express connection. The current Express connection only offers 70GB limit and it would suck if they made me go to that one just to offer me 50% off
Any one had luck getting 50% off??

Got offered the following:

Called that Steve guy in the OP and wasn't much going in terms of a new customer deal for me.
1 - Offered to knock $21 off of the Digital Plus package for 6 months.
2 - 2 Months Free then it goes back to the normal cost. $48 for 6 months, than $69.
3 - Digital Plus with Free HDPVR and HD Box for 1 year, for $55 and $50 bill credit. (Not much use as I only have 1 TV.)
I guess I'll give the regular rogers number a call tonight and see if there is anything different. Think there could be better deals available?

I was successful in re-negotiating 50% + free modem rental for 1 year for my Express Internet service.
Originally, the guy was like that retention plan is not available to me, but I asked him to check again and he said that he was able to add it even though it's expired. He added it and checked the bill preview and it showed up so he said it should be fine. Either way 50% off + free modem rental make me happy!
