You laugh but not so dumb, you see people selling on ebay for inflated prices, why? because it works now and then, you'd be surprised how many people buy based on price assuming that if be better quality. Same is for stereo equipment.

Your price should be closer to $1,000 than $2,000.
Especially for a used desktop package that is more than one year old (which is a long time in computer hardware terms), regardless of the "condition" you think it's in. A lot of wear and tear on computer parts you can't judge by just the age of the component._______________

Hi Timeless
My dad bought me this :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Gate...item231b9f57c0
when I was in grade 8, that was in year 1996 for around $1500. How much should I be expecting if I have to sell this today?

c'mon guys, give him a break.
It's not *that* unreasonable of a price. Case + Mobo + CPU + PSU will already run you ~$1.2k after tax AT CURRENT PRICE. Win 7 Ultimate is another $200, which doesn't degrade (unless it's a *free* copy, of course)
The items that dropped really crazy are the SSD, GFX, and DDR3.
HDD's price haven't really dropped, but it's the one that degrades most severely due to mechanical parts.
I'd estimate the system would be around $1.7k before tax if built with current price. (RFD could probably push it down to $1.4k.)
Either way, he did say "OBO", so...
