You'll receive a free $20 Petro-Canada Gift Card when you spend $75 or more on almost anything in the store.
***BONUS: You will also receive 5cents off/litre for 50 litres at Petro!

Before anyone asks the inevitable... NO YOU MAY NOT PURCHASE GIFT CARDS TO QUALIFY FOR THE $75.
The $20 petro card is pretty good though. The additional card for 5 cents off the next 50 litres works out to a grand savings of $2.50.

Not bad. I think it's better to stock up for a full year though with the gift card bonus points promo that comes around in November. Which is 8000 Optimum points for each $150 you get in gift cards. But if you missed that this is a good deal.

Everyone needs gas, so it is better than a $20 SDM gift card.

SDM GCs are better. You can buy Esso GCs, and other GCs.

I don't know what regular shoppers drug mart buyers are buying, but when I see "20 off 75" = 26% at SDM, I think "SDM is probably 26% more expensive than costco"

If you can purchase other gift cards with SDM gift cards, then it doesn't really make it better unless you don't have a petro gas station nearby. Otherwise, its equivalent. The way most would see this is that it is a free 22.50$ offer (assuming you drive and pay for gas).
If ESSO > Petro, then yes, that would be better. In the past though, the SDM gift cards that they offer are usually 10$ when you spend 50$. Not only that the 10$ SDM gift card is not really a gift card, but more of a coupon - which can't even be used to pay for taxes (and in most cases can't be converted into other gift cards).
This is a good deal if you can find something in store at a decent price you would be buying anyway... works out to 30% off with the 22.5$ off.

lots of things, but you have to know what to buy and it depends which SDM you go to. I often find clearout section stuff for cheap. Some things on sale at SDM are very competitive. I've seen razors, toothpaste, brushes, etc. Then there are electronics that don't go on sale much more anywhere else (ex. nexus 7, wii u). Of course those are way over 75$. Most people who are regular RFD members would / should be able to make use of this deal. Personally I probably won't because I still have too many points to use up, so unless they give the petro card when redeeming, I likely won't buy anything

I agree. When I was in Calgary I was going to buy something on sale at SDM but then I went to Wal-Mart and the regular price was cheaper than the SDM sale price. But some of the sale items are definitely a good deal. Often the food specials are a good deal.
