As far as i know - they did not deliver the service which i pre-paid for....
Why is everybody defending TS? I dont get it...Their service has gone downhill and there are a lot of unhappy and pissed customers....Do a quick Google search...People are dropping this ISP on daily basis...
Nevertheless, i will be disputing charges as i never signed anything with TS...

Why did you post your inflamatory TSI review in this thread?
A lot of people think TSI is great and will defend that opinion. I'm not with TSI but still think they are better than Bell. Whatever provider you choose is still going to be using Bell and or Rogers services...you can't completely rid yourself of them. You say you've signed up with start.ca and claim they're "much better than TS". Start.ca is new so I'm not sure you can say how much better they are until they've been around as long as Tek.

Ok, so if you're confident the issue isn't on your end, why raise such a big stink about the fee that could potentially be charged if the problem is with your equipment? Like I mentioned before, the fee is meant to protect end users like you and I from wasteful operating costs that would raise monthly rates. Teksavvy couldn't resolve the issue for you over the phone and dispatched a Bell technician. What more did you want them to do?
You don't have to physically sign it. You either verbally agreed to it or agreed to it when you signed up online. I'm defending them because your arguments make no logical sense. How can you claim their service has gone downhill? You didn't even give them the opportunity to dispatch a Bell technician to resolve the issue and cancelled before the dispatch! They didn't deliver the service because you wouldn't let them fix it. You have no one to blame but yourself in this case.Last edited by chaos1105; Jul 18th, 2012 at 09:56 AM.

Yeah, I've been using TSI for 6 or 7 years now and I honestly haven't had a single complaint about them. Been very satisfied. Agree though that the quality of their customer service has gone down since they expanded their call center, a lot of the people you speak to don't have any technical expertise and are just following their script but everyone I've talked to has been friendly, polite and patient. I've always viewed TSI as the Canada Computers or NCIX solution to Best Buy and Futureshop, cheaper prices in exchange for lower quality service and more for people who know what they want and they're doing.

Agreed - if you want idiot proof service, at a premium price, go with the incumbents. If you are prepared to do your own troubleshooting and save a few bucks, go with TPIA or GAS service..i.e electronic box, start, acanac, TSI etc.
Incumbents do sabotage these 'annoying upstarts' so you need to be ready for that game playing.

To me TS is much cheaper plus much larger cap. I was with Bell for 5+ years before switching to TS a couple of years ago. Bell and Rogers offer plans which are more expensive, lower speed, pathetically low cap, and force you to sign a contract.
With TS, I get Rogers cable, 300gb cap, cheaper, and no contract.

Is anyone else getting inconsistent speeds with TSI Cable? My router was lagging so I updated the firmware, now when I go to speedtest.net, sometimes I clock in at 60+Mb/s and other times I come in at less than 6Mb/s.

I think you were referring to my post; I was testing it multiple times right after each other (speed would vary a lot). Then I tested it on Saturday night and the speed was always consistent. I tested it again last night and the speed was consistently slow.
While using the internet, you dont really notice any appreciable lag for the surfing that my family does, but now my router seems to desconnect from time to time so I'm thinking the router is the problem.

I decided to go with TekSavvy as I dropped all of my Rogers services... WOO HOO!!! Bye bye Rogers.

Anyways, I decided to write about the process from ordering to install in this thread so people can get an idea of what the setup experience may be like with TekSavvy when ordering cable internet.
I placed my order Aug 27th in the afternoon via the internet (ordering the 28/1 300 GB cable internet plan). I chose an installation date of Sep 4th in the evening. Backup dates were Sep 5th and Sep 6th. I got an order confirmation within the same day via e-mail. They do take the first month's payment up front (which I can understand to protect themselves in case of fraud) and you have to pay $45 for activation if you buy their $99 modem (DCM-476). If you have your own modem, the activation fee is $65. I decided to get a new modem.
As of today, I already received my shipping notification of the new modem. It should arrive here on Aug 30th via XpressPost.
I will update this thread next when I receive the modem and again when I reach the install date to confirm if Rogers actually shows up.
