Telus or Koodo?
Hey guys,
I'am new to rfd and had my first call to Telus retention last night (been with Telus since 2008), and got offered the following:
Unlimited Local and Nationwide calling
Unlimited North American picture/message text
CID/VM/Call Waiting/Conference Calling
1GB Data
Flat fee of $75 + Tax. (no contract)
For me this plan works as I have more than 10 people I call regularly all over canada and got dinged with LD charges all the time. In fact it's been awhile since my bill was under $100 a month (Last month was $158!). So the unlimited nationwide calling they offered is really good as it'll eliminate all these extra charges.
I tracked my data usage and because I have WIFI at home and work - I was surprised to find out that I was actually only using about 250MB's a month on average with the highest usage being at 500MB (had wifi issues at home that month). So the 6GB plans sound good, but 1GB is more than enough for me. Although the customer rep did offer me 6GB for another $10.
So what do you guys think? Good offer?
I was comparing it to the Koodo Canada Wide $50 plan (which has unlimited Nationwide talk minutes) - but no Data plan. I'd probably add the $15 data plan to get 500MB - which would total $65+tax. Ends up being $10 cheaper with 500MB less in Data than the Telus retention offer. Any guidance will be much appreciated!
Thanks,

I just switched over to the SASK55 plan. Took all but 5 minutes. Is student 50 a better plan? Can someone tell me what is included in the Student 50 plan?

It depends which Sask 55 Plan you switched to. The new one is only 1gb data & 200 minutes (with cid) and the previous one was 5 GB data and 500 minutes. The Student 50 is 5gb data and 500 minutes but does not include caller id.
This is my Student 50:

Hey everyone, I just did a renewal (I'm on my dad's account and he's been with telus since 1999). I got the Sask 55 plan (500 minutes, Fab 10, 5GB and unlimited texting) as well as a $10/month bill credit for the first 6 months. Is this a good deal?
I was also just looking over my Telus account online and in the data/minute usage pages its saying that I have 450 minutes and 12GB of data, is anyone else experiencing this?

Hey, my Telus contract is up in a month and I called retention's today and got offered this for $55 dollars a month.
200 anytime mins
Unlimited talk and text to 10 numbers nationwide
Unlimited evenings and weekends from 5pm
1 GB of data
Unlimited text
Caller ID + VM3
Is this a good price for this plan? I think that it meets my cell phone need in terms of the features but I am unsure if this is a fair price.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Where are you located? I'm in ON - on my recent call I tried to get the SK55 but didn't get near it - the agent tried to get me to stick with unlimited local calling + 6GB data for $65 (no daytime minutes needed w unltd local calls - but no fav 10 either). The agent acknowledged they have a 5 or 6 GB & 500 min daytime plus 10 fav nationwide but it is for another part of Canada and couldn't offer it to me. I was polite while trying to get him to budge but he wouldn't move. Frustrating. Are people asking outright for the SK55 plan? I didn't but am ready to on my next call if it makes a difference. Suggestions? Just call again another time? ask for their cancellation dept?

I'm located in Alberta. Make sure that you ask to speak to retentions, the toll-free number is for customer service and they're absolutely useless. I made the mistake of trying to talk to customer service the first time and the guy started yelling at me for wanting any sort of deals off of their $65 6GB plan (because its "too good" of a plan to get discounts on"). As soon as I asked to speak to retentions then I got what I wanted.
I basically mentioned that I'd noticed a $60 plan on their saskatchewan site and was wondering if it was possible to get it. Then I asked if it was possible to remove caller ID to get some sort of a discount, worked perfectly the first time. I got the $10/month bill credit the second time I called to ask if they could do anything about the activation/upgrade fees (which came to a $70 total).

Thinking about leaving Rogers (2 lines) and called Telus to see what they could offer:
Port in Plan $350 credit for each line
500 min each line (shared for 1000 total)
Unlimited incoming
Unlimited text
CID
VM
6gb data
$65+tax
I think it's a great plan but I pay about $50-$60 tax in on a Rogers retention plan. Reason I'm thinking of leaving Rogers is we want to hup but we have to pay an early hup fee(which I think is BS). Now say after a year is it possible to get say another $10 in discounts? Which would make this plan worthwhile to me.
