i'm looking to negotiate with Telus currently on month to month with them, but i want to upgrade phone, wondering if people would break month to month with below plan or just outright by iPhone 6s

Current plan month to month
Voice and Data 55
500 Local Minutes
5 GB DATA
Free Evenings and Weekends 5pm-7am
Favorite 10
Call Waiting and Voicemail
Unlimited Texts

Taxes in 65.54

So would you stay month to month or break and get a new plan with new phone
I would stay MTM with that plan. Data is not going to get cheaper and you will get a 10% BYOD discount so you will end up paying at least $5 less than what you are currently paying.
Mobile: $50 - Telus Student 50 Plan MTM since 2012 - 500 mins, 5GB data, unl text, FAV10, CID & VM25
Cable/Internet: $110+tax - Premier, Gigabit, PVR, HD Box
Home Phone: $0 since 2016 - Obi200/FPL with Google Voice (free call Can/US)

I called back Telus Retentions to see what they could offer me. First I was offered all the phones on Web site. Not interested in a new device. The Samsung S3 does the job it needs to do for my mom. As for plan wise I explained how the CityFone Individual deal of $25/mth for 150 Weekday Minutes, Unlimited Evenings/Wknds at 6p, Unlimited International and Canadian Texting ( not a big deal for this account ), Voicemail, Call Display, Name Display, Call Waiting & Conference Calling.

Telus' Counter Offer was for $30/mth

200 anytime local minutes
100 Canadian long distance
Unlimited nationwide text, picture and video messaging3
Call display
Call waiting
Voice Mail 3
Conference calling

I had the option of 10% off a month if I continued to use the device I have now.

That was the best they could do - after looking at the CityFone Web site to ensure I wasn't making numbers up.

I guess CityFone it is.

Hi there,

In Sept 2013, I upgraded my Manitoba plan. Had the unlimited talk plan for $10/mth. I signed up for the voice national 35 for $35. ( 150 Canadian Minutes. Unlimited after 5pm and weekends)

I received a monthly loyality credit of $17.50 for 36 months - due to a huge miscommunication.

Anyways, today I discovered the loyality credit was removed. Called and said it was only meant for 24 months not 36 months despite every month on my bill and my contract says 36 months. And that's how it is they say.

Anyways, the line isn't being used at the moment as it's my mom's and she's overseas until March. So what was offered to me was 10% discount for ONE year. The rep gave me the option of putting the phone number on vacation mode next month. ( Which I said it's starting immediately because I'm paying for a whole month of services already that was already messed up to begin with. ) But it's noted in March that I can make the decision.

I'm curious if I can fight this? I think it's a breach of contract and I wasn't given any notice of the change of terms.

Any thoughts? Advice?

Stay with m2m keep your plan if you don't have any access to corp and business plan.

I think I saw someone mention this but has anyone gotten a discount on a phone on a re-signing of a $25+$30 plan?
I think the post mentioned getting a $350 discount with a plan that was below their $70 threshold.

I don't think you can get a plan with 5GB of data for $55 even if he does have access to corporate plans.

Currently with Koodo. Have done 7 months out of 24 month contract. Just downgraded to their cheapest talk and text plan + 100 minutes for $25.00. Noticed that Petro Canada is offering talk and text + 100 minutes for $15.00. Do you guys think they'll match it? Have never negotiated bill before. Thanks!

It doesn't hurt to ask but I don't think you have enough leverage to negotiate because you still have 17 months left in your contract.

I have been with Telus for at least 10 years and I have no complaints. Network reliability and coverage is pretty much the same for all the 3 big telcos so it's all about the monthly plan for me.

I would suggest you rank the features that is important to you and decide based on that. Personally, data is the most important to me.

I have been with Telus for at least 3 years (can't remember how long now). Got 2 phones on a $55 plan (200min. + 1GB), contract about to end. Looking to get 2 Samsung S7 edge.

Currently Telus has promo of $100 off trade in, $100 off for signing up Telus Visa.

If I get a new 2 year contract, the S7 edge would cost $300 after discount but I'll have to sign up for a $80/mth plan.

Or I can pay up front and the phone would cost $800.

Rogers has a promo of $175 off s7 edge, plus trade in discount of $125, plus being a Rogers TV customer, get additional $200 credit. However, plan is $100/mth + 2nd line $60/mth.

By calling Telus retention or switching carrier, what would be my best option?

Thankx~

I'm currently month to month with a 45$ plan that includes 5GB data and illimited nationwide calls and text.
I would like to buy a new IPhone SE 64GB and keep my actual plan.
I called retention and they offered me a 125$ account credit if I buy the IPhone full price, no contract.

Do you think it's a good deal or I can do better ?

Sounds like a good deal to me, how did you manage to get that from them? I'd love to have that same offer so I could do a similar upgrade to a iPhone SE 64GB and keep my old $55 plan with 5GB of data...

You got them to give you a $125 credit for no other reason then you might buy a phone? That is awesome. Unless they mean buy from them and not Apple Store. I probably would have just pocked it the $125.
