Upper Deck’s National Hockey Card Day in Canada Returns in February 2012
For the last three years, Canadians have enjoyed a special treat to go along with Hockey Day in Canada where they can head to select hobby shops and score free packs of Upper Deck NHL cards. It is called National Hockey Card Day and last year was widely considered one of the best events to date.
The program returns to Canada on Saturday, February 11, 2012 where packs will be delivered exclusively through Upper Deck’s network of Certified Diamond Dealers who operate brick and mortar hobby shops throughout Canada. Puck fans can visit one of these shops and receive a FREE pack of Upper Deck NHL National Hockey Card Day cards while supplies last. Most of these retailers will be running a variety of other events and specials to capitalize on all the interest in this special day.
There are several factors that make Upper Deck’s National Hockey Card Day such a favorite with collectors. First, this program is exclusive to Canada and only Canadian-born players are featured in the set so there is a true sense of national pride in putting it together. Additionally, three subsets (five cards each) showcase the top rookies, stars and legends of the NHL. Next, a special 16th card is available to fans as a gift with purchase of Sidney Crosby featuring him as a member of Team Canada. Upper Deck will also be sprinkling in some very limited autograph cards randomly into packs as well of some big names that will be sure to have collectors excited.
There will be a retail portion to the program this season as well. Collectors who visit a London Drugs or Toys “R” Us in Canada and make an Upper Deck purchase can receive a special National Hockey Card Day blow-up card. The five players featured will be Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Roberto Luongo, Jonathan Toews, Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky.
Upper Deck will also be taking the experience of National Hockey Card Day online with fans through the special Facebook page created for the program. Upper Deck will offer fans a variety of FREE giveaways where they can score packs, boxes, blow-up cards and signed memorabilia just for sharing their experience with us by posting photographs or video to that Facebook page. Make sure to like that page today to take part and get other updates about the event!
We will be sharing information on which stores will be participating as the event draws closer, but in the meantime, enjoy a first look at the cards in the 2012 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day Canada set:

Thanks, just came here to post this. Started collecting hockey cards again just recently so more excited than I should be to get a chance to grab the first one...hope they have enough stock left.
I'm in Mississauga, from past searches, it seems like Image Collections (comic store on Queen Street in Streetsville), Untouchables (cards store in South Mississauga), and Planet Hobby (at Sq1) have all done this. I guess Toys R Us and Walmart are not doing it? It says there's a special 5 card set or something from Toys R Us but only after you make an upper deck purchase (and the only Upper Deck product they seem to sell there as far as I know is the $20 blaster set which isn't that great...I just ordered a complete 1-200 UD Series 1 base set for $25)._______________

Here's the location list (plus London Drugs which is only in the West and Toys R Us):
http://www.upperdeck.com/nhcd/elemen...ler-Canada.pdf
Note that you have to buy something from Toys R Us or London Drugs and I'm not even sure if they give you the 15 card set, they give a blowup card or something, I have no idea what that is. All the places in Mississauga are located in the South and I'm in the NW, Image Collections isn't doing it this year and 3 places are but they're all in the South end of the city and won't have time to go so that sucks. Maybe if I go some other day I'll see if they have any left over. I was looking forward to this actually because it's my first year collecting hockey cards but not a big loss because these cards don't have any player stats on the back (although it does have a Scheifele/RNH/Hodgson/Connolly/Couturier rookie card which would've been nice).Last edited by Nettles; Feb 9th, 2012 at 08:38 PM.

Correct the website is up now: http://www.upperdeck.com/nhcd/nhcd-canada.html
Rexall is not participating.. (this sucks since so many locations and easier to get a complete set)
Free packs are available from the "Store List" on site: http://www.upperdeck.com/nhcd/elemen...ler-Canada.pdf (usually limit of one since card dealers are cheap)
If you buy something at those stores, you get the special card # 16 (Crosby)
If you buy something at Toys R Us or London Drugs, you get 'one' of the special blow up cards (I don't care about these + Upper Deck stuff at Toys R Us is high $$)
VERY Disappointed this year - maybe all the card dealers complained since Rexall was involved handing out free packs, so many people didn't go there?

You are correct.. I discussed this with one of the stores.. the cards they don't give out, they will charge $$ the days after to try to make up for what they paid. It's an incentive to get people into the stores. I could see how the card dealers are HAPPY that Rexall isn't participating. Just a bummer for the kids. I can't see many card dealers handing multiple packs out to the same kids/adults (during a single visit). Now if we paid them for the extras... that's a different story I guess?

I was able to get a full set, 2 x Sidney Crosby and blow up card of Mario Lemieux. Visited 5 stores in the GTA.
I saw one guy open his pack he got an autograph card of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Jealous. Had I arrived 5 minutes earlier...
