Is there one of these for Detroit/Windsor border?
Hopefully in a decent area of detroit..
This is an older thread, I know, but I figured the info. might still be useful. I no longer live in Windsor, but when I did, I shipped to www.detroitmailbox.com numerous times. It is about 5 mins. tops across the border if you take the tunnel. I just would use their "Notify Us" service on their website when I had a package headed their way and they would email when it arrived. There was one time that they didn't notify me (out of about 10 pkgs. I shipped to them), but when I called to check on the pkg. the woman there was very apologetic and found the pkg. quickly and without a problem. Whenever I went to pick up pkgs. I was in and out of the building in 5 mins. easily.

Now I live about an hour and a half NW of Ottawa so I'm going to have to look at new options for shipping to the US and I'll have a much longer drive, so I'm sure I won't be shipping to the US as often anymore. I was checking out online myusaddress.ca or shipme.ca in NY, but haven't tried either yet. When I was only a 15 min. drive from the border it made so much more sense to ship many online purchases to the US, but now with it being about a 3 hr. drive, it would have to be really worth my while.

Is there a service like this in Port Angeles? I live on Vancouver Island, and would love to be able to take the Victoria to Port Angeles ferry and get my stuff near there.

What do you say to the man at the borders if you go for like 4-5 hours? I went seeing a relative that was sick?

Er...how 'bout just telling the truth? I've been through the regular lanes with packages and been waived through, and when I go through Nexus I give 'em my declaration form. 12% HST on the item is usually far less than the amount I'm saving anyway. I'm often across for less than a half hour. Just tell 'em what you did and there aren't any issues.
Also, can you just ship something there (USA) and go get it?
Yuppers.

A quick google search says the UPS store in port Angeles has this service, alternatively, point Roberts is doable too from Victoria.

I have used www.cbiusa.com at 1711 Cudaback Ave, Niagara Falls, NY with good results for the past 3 to 4 years. It is about 2 Km from the HWY 420 Bridge.

The border crossing is seldom as crowded as Lewiston except during tourist season.

I have used the single use fee and the annual subscription with mail box and both worked well.

They are polite, experienced and professional.

Watertown has a UPS store, so does Ogdensburg. I've never used W-town, but the Oggie store is great.

... did it ever occur to you that his handle is misspelled because someone else may already be using that handle?
& here I was thinking he was using his first 3 initials of his name followed by the first initials of his last name.

What is considered a package? If i order like 10 items and the company ships it together in one "package", does cbiusa only charge me for one package? i.e. 5.95?

that's a package @ 5.95 unless it's oversize. They don't open your packages, so you can have your 10 huge rubber dildos in one package and it's still 5.95

CBIUSA.com is the website. Stop being lazy people. Most of these US addresses have the rates on their websites.

i wasn't being lazy. I went on their website, otherwise i wouldn't know it was 5.95. I just wanted to clarify what was considered a "package" to them. For all i know they could be a shady place and charge by per items as "packages".

Just wanted to mention that CBI USA (so I discovered yesterday) will hold packages for 3 MONTHS for that $6 fee! That is awesome & SO MUCH better than the UPS store in lewiston that only holds for a week before charging $1 per day! Now I don't have to worry when I order stuff. Sweet! :cheesygri
 I'LL BUY WAGJAG COUPON CODES! $5, $10 & $20 (from liking on FB or icoke - Paying 30% of coupon value by Paypal) - PM ME! :!:

According to their website, they will hold packages indefinitely. For non registered users, they want you to notify them if it is going to be there longer than 3 months. This is one of the reasons I use this service as sometimes you can't get down there right away. The last time I ordered something, the only day I had free to go down, I got sick so I couldn't go and it was another month before I was able to get down there. I was very grateful for the flat fee.

+1 for CBI. One of my packages was one day late, so I couldn't pick it up when I was passing through on vacation in July. I called in August to ask if they would mind holding it until December and he said, "No problem."

Plus, they have computers available to print off receipts for the custom officials, in case you forgot to bring them.

I was worried at first, but they are totally legit. I've probably had 20-25 packages sent to them with no problems at all. They are very professional and I was quite surprised by the size of the operation. They'll probably do even better when the new exemption limits kick in June 1st.

There is a Kinek place in Buffalo that charges $3 per package, but only holds packages for 30 days before they start charging storage fees. They might be good if you have a lot of packages in a relatively short period of time.

CBI is still good eh, I Google Map'd them with the images updated recently and the street-view of their building looks like they've moved out? @KC1 What do you usually tell the border people when crossing when you go to pickup anything from CBI?
