I'm primarily going for the Mosconi Cup event (a major annual billiards event USA vs Europe) and it will be held at the Mandalay Hotel. The best hotel deal that I could currently find is at Excalibur for $28 / night (+$34 Resort fees etc). $333 USD for 5 nights. We haven't decided if we should stay until Sunday or leave on Friday. Any advice when and where to look for direct flights to Vegas from Toronto in December? Right now it looks about $600 average round trip. I currently have my flights tracked on Skyscanner.
hotel price is as good as you are going to get..and excal is pretty close to mandalay..airfare is a bit on the higher side right now..but not too much...the lower end of airfare for Air Canada or Westjet (or partners ) is just over $400 all in...but it may never get that cheap during the times you want...check the AC website and try different days departure and coming home...sometimes a day early or later can save $100 or more and you can offset it by your cheap hotel rate.

we can fly from Victoria,Vancouver or Bellingham. The only to do thing on our list is going to see LOVE by Cirque.

Thx in advance for any help.
I usually use skyscanner from Vancouver and Bellingham. However, I usually go through Bellingham anyways just to grab stuff from the border. Just account for the USD pricing, the fact that you have to pay for carry on, and parking at Bellingham airport, then decide which is cheaper for you.

For hotel, book the royal offer.

I would say, once you see the price reach 400s. press the button. (From YYZ) It rarely go under that although it does but those deal gone lighting fast.
$28 is very good if you don't need to stay in a fancy hotel. Excalibur and Mandalay Bay is very close by and connected with the skytransit.

Book with Royal offer, book 2 nights using your name, book another 2-3 with ur friend's name to get some resort credits from both booking.

I'm from Victoria originally. Years ago flew to Vegas on Allegiant Air (almost certain this was the airline) from Bellingham. It was $39 each way.

Those $39 one-way days are long gone. The cheapest round trips from Bellingham on Allegiant are hovering around $200CDN nowadays. Mind you, these are still much cheaper than YVR or YYJ, even after factoring in baggage fees and parking at BLI ($13CDN+/day).

1. Mirage
2. Linq or Bally's (Cheaper option and on the strip)
3. Treasure Island

Last time I was in Vegas was in December 2014 when parking was still free and I was there with my family and we had a great time staying at Treasure Island. I am looking at package options at selloffvacations or expedia.ca (hotal+flight+car). I am interested in driving to the grand canyon and hoover dam rather than doing tours with tour companies. I am basically looking for recommendations on where to stay, what to do and any other activities we should do.
I would go with the Linq. I have stayed there 6 times and will be back next week. Mirage is nice too, but you'll pay probably twice as much. Treasure Island, don't waste your time if you can afford to stay at The Linq, which should be even cheaper.

Best value for these dates would be Mirage using the royal offers. Or if you want a great pool, you can do Mandalay bay. I'd probably do Mirage just for location. For car, I use costcotravel.com and keep rebooking as price goes down since there's no deposit needed.

I stayed in Mirage last time and doesn't like it.

Good location, center of the strip.
No plug to charge cellphone anywhere near your bed. I had to charge my phone at the desk. A drop of dried out blood on the bed sheet. Overall, it doesn't look like a 4 or 4.5 star hotel. Not impress with it.
The Buffet downstairs doesn't allow me to use resort credit (room charge) + the 2 for 1 voucher together (from myvegas slot). I end up paying 1 buffet and save my resort credit for other stuff, I redeem the voucher for the buffet, I didn't want to go refund it.
Aria on other end have no problem using the voucher + resort credit.

I really like Aria and even more excited with Vdara. One day, I will love to stay at Venetian and Wynn,

How would you rate Aria and Vdara in terms of cleanliness and stars. We stayed at the Trump International back in December and it was 5 stars all the way. Excellent service. Fantastic room which kind of felt like a condo because it had kitchen facilities and was pretty spacious for a hotel room. Very clean.

Aria, I stayed in a Kings Bedroom ($102/nt from royal offer), not suite. The blinds are operated by the control remote. Very clean, stuff are very modern. We loved it.

Vdara, We stayed in a Suite with kitchen and a TV room with sofa. Huge windows with half strip view and half look at the highway (look toward Rio hotel). Unbelievable million view when it's sunset or sunrise. 4 small bottles of compliment water.
Nice bath tube + shower on the side. Everything is just awesome.

If we have to pick, we would pick Vdara because we don't gamble, so we don't have to walk thru the casino every time. But Aria's has jean-Pierre Patisserie which is outstanding,

Both are one of the best hotels I stayed in and def a steal for $102 /night even adding resort fee. Where else you can stay in a 5 star hotel for less than $200 CAD/nt?

I thought of staying at Trump, but it's kinda at the north edge of the strip and we didn't rent a car, so I picked Aria and Vdara

Are you planning to spend much time on the strip or are you just looking for a place to stay while spending most of your time off the strip?

Aria and Vdara are both top notch. Vdara doesn't have a casino in their building, so if that's important to you, keep that in mind. Also Vdara has the kitchen/kitchenette option which could be helpful as well.

Around $400-450~ direct round trip I would bite, which is doable since you're flying on their slower days. In terms of hotel, depends how much you plan to be there for the event, whether you plan to just be there for 1 day, or if you plan to attend every day. If it's former, I would suggest going closer to the centre of the strip (Aria/Vdara/Planet Hollywood, etc). Where as if you plan to attend every day and that's the primary reason you're there, I would try to stay directly at Mandalay Bay.

I just woke up this morning and said "f*** it I need a vacation" so went to a travel agency and booked Oct 23-26 at the Excalibur for $634.95. Flying with WestJet and it includes the shuttle from the airport to hotel and the same when leaving.

At least now I'll get to see what vegas looks like while flying in instead of like last time where I got there in the morning. This will be my second time going.

Yep.

Oct 23 YYZ -> Vegas leaves at 8:50PM
RETURN OCT 26 Departs 11:50PM I believe it was.

I added in the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and back. Taxes in and all it came to $634.95

I honestly don't really care about upgrading to a nicer room as I'm going on this trip by myself and am gonna be walking around everywhere. Will see a few shows and probably go to the race track thing they have there.

Is this cheap? I always wondered if travel agencies actually save you money. I just checked on westjetvacations.com and the same thing is $588.51. Another $25-30 for Uber to/from hotel and it's still cheaper and more convenient. Or am I missing something here?

Which hotel? Did you put the same dates I did? The problem is is sure some will show 500-600 then you click into it and find out the flights are connecting flights or even you get the message "the price went up by $100+"
