For 2 people!
That's what me and hubby spend for Aria, flights, car and good food in November. However, having said that, I checked and for your dates, that's a good deal you got.

If that's with flight for 2, it's a very good deal.
I beg to differ !! I would never pay that for Ceasar palace. It isn't what it used to be. Many many better options. Before the likes of Bellagio,Venetian,Wynn it was HIGH CLASS... Now it's just HIGH priced. I have done min. 2 trips a year since 1997. Having stayed at 90% of Vegas hotels and Caesars is no longer in the top 10

I meant, if he's dead set on the dates and hotel, I looked at the prices and they can be at least $2300. So for the price he got it for, it's a good deal.

I have stayed at Treasure Island and Exacilbur before.

In my opinion for location and ease of access to the strip. PlanetHollywood can't be beaten,it also has a very good selection of food choices for every budget. I have stayed at Aria/vdara and it seems like you have to walk forever to get anywhere. Bellagio is overpriced for rooms now that are considered average. The Wynn, palazzo have amazing rooms but that end of the strip doesn't seem to have a lot going on. My nicest room in Vegas was my last trip in April where I got upgraded to a 1500 sq foot penthouse suite at the Mirage. I'm not a fan of flamingo, ballys, harrah and the older properties. I actually like the location and upgrades done to The Linq. Mandalay Bay Is also a long walk just to get to anywhere. Luxor and Excalibur are in need of implosion ! MGM is too big. NYNY has always been a very low quality of service for me,good food options but that's about it. Lately I have been staying at mirage mainly because I get comped rooms resort credit and free play, and usually manage to get resort fees taken away. I hope this helps. Keep in mind also that MLIFE properties are now charging to park unless you have "status" even self park. Self park is free for pearl and above and valet is free for whatever is above pearl.

I'm heading to Mirage next month (first time heading to Vegas). Any tips or recommendations? How do you get the resort fees waived? I'm looking to gamble a bit but doubt I'll crack $500-1k over the 4 days.

Easiest way to get resort fee's waived/comped is to make sure you use your players card at all times and charge everything to your room. Pay cash for nothing while in a Mlife resort. This way they can see what' you have spent ant makes it easier to comp certain things. BEFORE you checkout go to the Mlife players desk and ask what they can do towards your bill. Rarely will the waive resort fees they may offer you $$ towards your final bill.

I personally doubt you'll be getting resort fees waived with such little spending. Everyone always says to try - but you have to take it with a grain of salt in regards to the success.

But I'm going to throw it out there - do you want the hassle even? With the amount of gambling you plan to do the comps will be low. With total rewards you can save $1 off at a restaurant there. There are some "skip the line" areas but I assume they have changed them all to require the higher level cards.

At the end of the day, make sure you enjoy your trip. If you think it's going to be annoying to have to always remember your card, always plug it into your machine, rub it on your pants because it didn't take it the first time, then remember to flash it at the restaurant - then don't get one.

It's RFD and bound to be an unpopular idea, but unless you're using MyVegasRewards (which is worth looking in to) or something to get decent rewards I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Eat where you want, play where you want.

I had a $900 USD bankroll at Harrah's and only really gambled occasionally there and spent most of my time at TI but got my fees waved and now have lots of offers coming in. So you never know. The key for sure is to make sure to get rated when playing table games and put your card in at the slots.

Does anyone have experience staying at the Rio LV? Prices during the week look decent and obviously want to get reduce/remove as much of the resort fee as possible ($32/day). Will be looking for 4-5 nights and spending 1K in table games and slots.

I have stayed at the Rio. Nice rooms great pools. BUT.. It's not on the strip. If your plans are to camp out at the rio for 4-5 days it will be good. They have a shuttle running to Harrah's and Bally's I think. The food choices are limited at the rio. Amazing buffet if you like that sorta thing.

Unless they did a thorough cleaning inside PH, it's a bad choice for those with allergies and hate the smell of cigarettes (you can smell it all over, including non smoking rooms).

Walking from Aria to Vdara and then through Bellagio is 5min and you're on the main strip.
Plus, you can take the tram from Vdara to the other side of the strip.

My personal opinion is that the Rio is too far and isolated. The Rio is with three casinos (Palms and Gold Spike? I always forget the name of the small one) and the shuttle only runs until 12:45am/1:00am. It's a massive property, but my opinion is that if you are looking to save money and do not want to stay on the strip, why not stay on Fremont Street? It's a great atmosphere and you'll be able to easily cab to / from the strip if that's your desire. Plus it's within walking distance of the outdoor outlet mall if that is your thing.

If you want to stay on the strip, the Best Western @ Casino Royale still does not charge a resort fee (as far as I know). And the big plus is you are right on the strip in the middle of a lot of different casinos (with varying price ranges to suit everyone's budget). TI also has a no resort fee type rate (I think it's called the "TV Offer") but I think the catch is that it's Sunday to Thursday or something like that.

Either way, I would much rather stay at Fremont or the Best Western/TI than stay at the Rio. Unless you have been to Vegas a lot and want to keep trying new hotels, it seems silly to stay in such an isolated location.
(and that's just my opinion, so no offense to Rio fans)
