Thx OP. I picked up one in Vancouver (Grandview WM) this afternoon - They still had a few more in the case. The salesperson did mention the price dropping to $198 next week :D

damn I bought this for $250 last month. I guess the extra $50 is almost the same as gas for two trips to walmart.

I went at got a 32GB model in Kitchener (Fischer-Hallman/Ottawa). There were plenty left. Now I need to evaluate whether I need a PB or not.

What do you need more than 16 gigs in one of these things?

The extra $100 for 16 gigs is stupid

$200 for extra 48 gigs - what is the point?

It's never a good idea to buy computer hardware to sit on and 'use in the future.' And right now this device is fairly useless in the real world, with no proper calendar or email support, no Skype support, etc.

good point and why I said not long ago that I would consider this @ 150(as it has a good browser). But now, even that is a bit iffy as more and more, I found 1024x600(even 1024x768 like the iPad) to be totally inadequate given modern day website design.

Do people think the extra 16 gigs is worth an extra $100?

Recommending it to my sister who has a Blackberry already... told her I didn't think the extra 16 gigs was worth the price difference as likely in a years time $100 would get you a whole tablet :)

Wow - looks like Playbook is going head on with Kindle Fire and Kobo Vox here in Canada.

No question what is the better tab for the money though. Playbook is a steal.

If Best Buy drops their price and you pay $500 isn't it their policy to provide you with 10% of the difference anyways, i.e., without officially 'price matching'?

Nope, and I also didn't think the extra $50 was worth it for the 32GB TP.

When these tablets go on clearance, the best way to maximize your investment is to spend the least possible for a workable amount of memory.

So just to clarify, you can't get on the internet with a PB? You have to tether to your BB, assuming you have a data plan?

I want to be able to surf the net with a PB at wifi hotspots. Is this not possible?

No, and you might not even be able to PM the PB and return the accessories.

Yes, it has Wifi/Wireless N and BT, etc., and those comments are only referring to wireless roaming without a hotspot.

Thanks. What's the point of 3g anyway? If you want to be connected 24/7?
