Shuttle driver told me it's a white knuckle drive if there's a snowstorm. I believe him. Wouldn't chance it personally and there's no shared shuttle from Cranbrook. If you are going with 8 people would be worth it to rent your group a shuttle from Cranbrook.

If someone has never gone skiing or snowboarding, but likes to travel and backpack, would these kind of vacations be worthwhile?

Interesting question as the travel time is winter / early spring so not all "summer attractions" are going to be available.

If you are from Ontario I would suggest Mont Saint-Anne or Baie-Saint-Paul - Le Massif. Drive from Toronto is about 9 -10 h. You are 1 hour from Quebec city which has lots to offer (check their winter attraction's schedule - for example February 7 - 16 2020 is Winter Carnival - cool stuff).
Le Massif has luge, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and more to offer.

Cheers

Please note that this 2for1 deal will be expiring soon (I believe that they will be available until end of November). With early snow in Eastern Canada, Blue Mountain opening this weekend and Tramblant opening next weekend, take advantage of this offers as the space is limited.

Cheers all and think snow!
