[Metro] Metro.ca ONTARIO Free BBQ Bundle (MSRP $50) with Purchase of $50

Looks like if you order $50 of groceries on Metro.ca then you'll get a package of stuff worth $50 thrown in. And from what I see it can be delivery or pickup.

I don't post deals often so let me know if I missed anything.

edit1: I'm going through the site now, and it appears that there are only two stores you can pick up from right now, St. Clair and Burlington
2155 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M6N 1K5 or 2010 Appleby Line Burlington, ON L7L 6M6
But after the first order (pickup or delivery) you get three delivery fees waived (normally $11.99)

edit 2: Ontario only

*Terms and conditions applicable to the free products offer: Offer valid only on a completed online transaction on metro.ca, reserved for new eCommerce users only, completing their first grocery online (submitted, paid, delivered or picked-up) transaction from May 7th, 2019, to July 7th, 2019, while quantities last. With the purchase of your first online grocery order, receive a surprise bag of assorted products. Approximate value of $50.00 (plus applicable taxes). The free products will automatically be added to your order. Products may vary according to variety available. No AIR MILES ® Reward Miles (if applicable) will be awarded on the value of the free products. One offer per customer during the promotion period. Details at metro.ca. This offer is not transferable and has no cash value. Ontario residents only. Online orders: Minimum purchase of $50 is required, excluding: the value of the free products, taxes, delivery fees, lottery tickets, bus tickets, gift cards and other prepaid cards, stamps, postal services, donations as well as any items excluded in future and listed on metro.ca or items prohibited by law. You must enter the coupon code at the time of your online transaction. Delivery offered in specific zones. Some products are not available online. Details at metro.ca.

Interesting deal, and it's certainly nice that they're doing it through both of the barbecue-heavy long weekends (May 2-4 and Canada day).

Thanks for sharing OP

Pay $11.99 for delivery to get $50 in free stuff? Think I might give this a try. Need to see how their grocery pricing is online first though.

Yep. I just tried changing to a Qc location and this offer does not exist.

IS this bundle really worth $50 ?

I don't see the value more than 15 bucks.

Keep in mind these aren't rock bottom prices for each item (paper towels seem especially high) but this is based on the current prices at Metro:

  • Water: $0.99
  • Ketchup: $4.99
  • Summer Fresh salad: $4.79
  • Villaggio buns: $3.69
  • Irresistibles bacon: $5.99
  • Greenfield sausages: $5.99
  • Mayonnaise: $7.99
  • Renee’s Caesar dressing: $5.49
  • Coca-Coca: $5.99
  • Sponge Towels: $6.99
  • Chips: $1.99

Total: $54.89

If you can somehow get all this for $15 that seems pretty amazing.

I was really curious how much stuff cost on that image so I checked it against metro's own regular prices.

Full non-sale price for all the 11 items from that I picture:

$1.49 - Pure Life sparkling water 1L
$5.99 - Mini Coca-Cola 8x300ml (Only 2.4L Total)
$7.99 - Sir Kensington's Mayonnaise 295ml
$6.99 - 2-ply paper towels gaint rolls by Sponge Towels
$4.99 - Heinz Tomato ketchup 1L
$5.49 - Renée's Gourmet Caesar dressing and dip 355ml
$1.99 - Irresistibles Original sea salt old fashioned chips 150g
$5.99 - Irresistibles Gluten free hardwood smoked bacon, Naturalia 375g
$3.69 - Villaggio Toscana sausage bun (6 Buns Total)
$5.99 - Greenfield Smoked Sausages 300g (Can't find exact one but similar size costs this)
$4.79 - Summer Fresh Greek feta pasta salad 300g
---------------------------
= $55.39 Before Tax

Granted you can find stuff on sale all the time and some purchases wouldn't make sense like mini coca cola at insane price, when you can get it much cheaper in different format. Not to mention you could substitute some of this stuff with out much loss in quality. However I would say this is still worth $35-$40, maybe if you skip on the paper towels and get the absolute cheapest off brand sale stuff you might be able to squeeze $20 worth of stuff.

EDIT: Looks like TomRFD had the same idea and beat me to it. Also I missed the salad in mine originally.

And a very limited selection of participating metro stores... maybe give it time and more will have the pickup/deliver service offered. For now it seems like again Toronto is the centre of Ontario.
