I went to a few places and they told me it was discontinued. Another few told me that they had some. Is it ok to buy a discontinued tire? I was quoted $740 for all 4 with everything included. I'm in waterloo

Michelin makes some very good tires but also some with very few redeeming qualities.
Harmony falls in the latter category - its primary virtue being quietness.
But all have a price premium because of extensive advertising and to maintain the perception of top quality.
The main reason for not buying a set of discontinued tires is that it becomes difficult to replace if you suffer an early failure or blowout.

Wait for the Michelin Defender, if you can. It should be out in late April.

Unless you can get a significant price discount on those Harmony's..pass..
Also, you can check the "manufacture date" on the tire by reading the sidewall. There are 4 digits inside an oval, first two digits indicate week and last 2 digits indicate year.
I agree with Macnut, unless treadwear rating and noise level are your highest priorities I would look into another brand. They are mediocre (if not terrible) at everything else given its price.

Robinson Automotive called Michelin yesterday and placed an advance order for 4 Michelin Defenders for me...I think they're worth the wait..
Long time fan of Michelin Harmony tires...the Defenders should be just as good ( 145,000 km ) .....if not better.

You can get better tires at half the price from other makers. Michelin makes great tires, but most of them have the word "pilot" in them.
