This is a great deal for a laptop with a 1060 (maxQ) . I bought it just over a month ago for $1150 and thought i was getting a pretty good deal (now i am sad :( ) Slight typo in the title, the CPU is a 8300H.

So far I've had a great experience and I think the laptop is a decent all rounder. Some things to note:

- 17 inch is pretty huge for a system if you want to lug it around everyday. Plus side is that AFAIK the 17" G3 will always come with the AUO panel which is decently colour accurate (refer to notebookcheck review)
- The i5 chip and the 1060MQ seems to be a pretty sensible pairing for gaming. The chip runs hot (just like the i7), a bit too hot for me so i've managed to keep thermals down to sub 80degc (during stress tests) by limiting turbo frequencies to 3.4Ghz (vs 3.8).
- 8gb of ram can in some cases be a bit limiting (like having a bagillion chrome tabs and gaming) and unfortunately AFAIK it is 2x4GB sticks (both slots)
- Build quality imo is pretty decent for it's class, styling is subtle (it doesn't have a MLG gamer pro aesthetic) which is nice, keyboard is pretty good (get an external mech keyboard for gaming), trackpad is serviceable (way too much click travel though)
- The back light on this version is blue

I pulled the trigger and bought it for now. Can return if I change my mind. Thanks, OP!

Ordered this on Friday for $1049, and then saw it on Monday for $999! Thankfully they price adjusted over the phone..

By far the best price for a 1060 laptop, and the 8300H is more than enough.. Benchmarks for the i7-8750 aren't that much better for gaming and that model costs 50% more.

Even GTX 1050 17" laptops from BB and Costco are minimum $1200 and usually have no SSD.

Thermals seem to be controlled by a bit of undervolting the CPU and GPU, and I'll likely upgrade the WiFi card on it to the Intel 9260, but will reserve judgement till I get it.
