So has anyone else experienced a high pitched whine when the fans start spinning up?
Yes mine does the same. Its kind of irritating in a silent room. It happens even when the fans don't spin. Like when I open a new tab. Or load a heavy web page.
I am going to return this beauty because it keeps whining.

That status is very misleading. I called to verify and they said not in stock. The agent also said the status is unavailable to her, so not sure why we see a different status.

Anyone else undervolting and having the TDP max out between 6 - 8W TDP when running a stress test instead of targeting 15W? Whether I run the stress test with Intel XTU or Prime95, I'll get a short burst to ~2.9 GHz for ~ 5 seconds at reporting ~ 71C , only then to have the max core frequency throttle to 1.5 GHz and pretty much stay steady at 52C with 100% CPU Utilization. All of the indicators within XTU state no throttling is going on, but to have it flat line at 1.5 GHz would suggest otherwise. I too have looked at the Power Management settings, and its currently on 100% for Maximum Processor Frequency so I don't think it can be that.

To those of you who've had this for the past few weeks, is this laptop worth considering buying?

Issues such as squeaking fan noise, yellow/orange tint, flickering screen, and wifi drops still there?

How come you're selling? I've seen a bunch of these in kjiji. Are users having buyer's remorse?

That would be the super conservative thermal throttle. Use ThrottleStop to use the full 15W.

Did anyone try to reapply the thermal paste with arctic silver 5 / MX400? Just wanted to see if it was possible to do this and help reduce temperature slightly further.
I just re-applied thermal paste (Arctic MX-4) to my i7 version as well, and noticed about a 6°C reduction to the CPU while running Cinebench R15 (566, 561, 575 @ 66°C, avg 2,590 MHz). Didn't see a reduction in my GPU temperatures though. I'm going to try maybe a little more than a rice grain size this time on the GPU to see if that does anything, since the initial factory paste was definitely more than a pea size for sure.

ThrottleStop was definitely the way to go instead Intel XTU. Finally getting scores in the 1,950s with CPU-Z after tuning the Performance profile and applying a CPU voltage offset of -84.0 mV and an iGPU voltage offset of -50.8 mV. Of course this was only during the Turbo Boost stage. Steady state will hover around the 1,400s at full 15W. Thanks again for the tip!

Anyone have fan noise issue with their Flex 5? Mine does that whenever CPU is above 25% and it sounds like a jet engine. Thanks
