[Microsoft Store] [MS] Warm - Dell Inspiron 7577, GTX 1060 6GB, i5-7300HQ, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD

Haven't posted in a while, apologies if I'm forgetting anything.

Have been eyeing this laptop for a while but it was always out of stock or priced higher. Pretty decent price for the a GTX 1060 even if it is the max-q version. :)

Here's an alternative with a step lower video card 1050Ti but a step higher CPU at a much lower price. $1100 before unidays and ebates so it's real cost is about $900 before tax.
EB is 10% right now. I tried to search but can't find the previous deal on the G5. Would you consider this a good deal?

$1099 - 10% Unidays (if one can find one) and 10% EB

Thanks!

I tried to obtain one for you, but I think Microsoft only applies it to the account you sign on to, and doesn't provide a code. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

It depends on your needs. The $900ish option I listed is good enough for medium to high settings for games. The previous G5 with the 8750 CPU and 1060 card and 16gb of RAM, is $1400ish and it can run games at high to ultra. I actually bought that G5 because it has what I plan on keeping it for 4+ years so I'm willing to pay more for future proofing. The $900 option would suit me just fine for what I need now though, likely next 2 years, but these life spans are very subjective.

Personally, I think the G3 has the sleekest body. I would love it if they had the G3 with the 8750 and 1050ti and 8 gig ram and 256 HD for $900ish after ebates and unidays.

Reviews are starting to be available on Dell's G-series gaming laptops.

This review was somewhat critical of the display. Are you happy with your G5's display? Thanks!

I had the Lenovo Y720, that display was worse, dimmer.

The G5 is fine for league of legends and overwatch. Colours are fine. No complaints. It's watching movies with dark scenes that bother me, the blacks are not black. IT could be placebo but I used the colour profile from notebook check and I "feel" like the colour is better. Fine for the games I play. Bright enough with decent colour.

I have a Sony TV with HDR and 4K. I don't need a fancy display for portable gaming, if I want that eye candy, I'll plug it into the TV. Wide colour Gamut, 800+ nits of brightness, 8000+ contrast.

If it really bothers you, there are replacement LCD panels from ebay and aliexpress for $120 that are 120hz and 400nits bright. Installs in an hour at home. Search Bob of All Trade on youtube for tutorial.

Thank you. I think I have seen G5 with this configuration on sale for $1099 before. I guess ebates is now 10% so that’s attractive.

How is G5 compared to G7? There is a G7 thread which you can get $1,350 with Uniday code. i7-8750H GTX1060 256 GB, 8GB. The option for white casing is refreshing and looks awesome.

I've ordered it to see how it is. Will update when I get it. From what I can tell based on reviews, it could just be cosmetic differences.
