The Dell Inspiron 14 2 In 1 PC, is it any good? I got some Xbox Live Points Cards that I can use to buy it.
A life spent making mistakes is not only more memorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

Did Dell fix the well-known screen flickering issue of the XPS 15? That issue single-handedly made that laptop a dud.

Finally gave in and got the XPS 13 i7 Rose Gold.
At 1299, I'm happy with the price, considering it is the 4k touch display.
Hoping that the unit comes with the integrated fingerprint reader (although not mentioned on the specsheet).

Will keep posted.

I read some reviews. I think the i5 will have better battery life and chances are that you won't notice 4 cores vs 6 cores. Also, 6 cores is not likely to be able to sustain that load for a long time with the heat output (it will throttle). i7 has vpro but that is very niche and if you haven't used it then not worth it. I think i5 is better overall value.

One thing to note though is that the specs on i5 says 1050ti but I'm not sure if it's actually 1050ti or 1050. If it is 1050, I plan to complain to Microsoft since I bought the i5.

I also bought lenovo P1 (similar to X1 extreme) from another deal and plan to pick one and return the other.

I don't think there are any XPS 15 configuration with the 1050.
I got the laptop. It is 1050 with MaxQ (Not 1050ti with MaxQ). It only has 640 shaders.

I don't think this is correct, at least for the 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD model. There are several eBay and Amazon listings with the same model number (XPS9570-7016SLV-PUS) that all list a GTX 1050 Ti, not GTX 1050:

Yeah, I'm talking about the i5 model, not the i7 model.

After comparing it with the Thinkpad P1 I got, I think I'll go with the XPS 15.

XPS 15 need some work out of the box to get it where I need it to though....whereas the Thinkpad system was better out of the box.
Most of this has to do with the fact that
  • the bios can possibly get auto-updated via Windows into a version that's undesired (without ability to downgrade).
  • fan noise on idle is more annoying on the XPS 15. Getting it to be silent is a bit of a challenge.

Got mine today and yes, it does have the fingerprint reader!
The fans are really loud, but I'm guessing it is from the initial setup.
Can anyone else confirm, if their laptops were running loud and hot out of the box?

Returning the i7 9370 as the fan is too loud and it gets really hot. I have a feeling this laptop will have issues down the line.

I just got mine last night. I will have a check today with mine. Hopefully everything is good. If not, maybe bring it in for an exchange or return.
