Yikes, why did they charge tax. I've never been charged tax when I buy digital games off the site. Or is this just because of Xbox Live gold.

Just checked, I get charged tax as well, weird. Aw well 51 dollars, paid 45 for 50 bucks,
Im pretty sure you get charged tax when you purchase digital games. Just for some reason on the site and on the xbox it doesnt show tax but you get hit with the tax on your credit card. not to sure if its different when you use gift cards.

I got charged 15% taxes, 53.63 total. Can we stack 2 year Live Gold service at this discounted price?

Haha...pretty interesting fellow indeed...but it was this persistence/stubbornness of his that got him the positive result in the end.

... Although, I'm a little surprised you went against what everyone advised ,op. You've got balls and absolutely crazy at the same time to do this.

You could have just made billing address in alberta and paid via paypal. I paid 48.99 for it.

Thanks! Best way to take advantage of this is to buy the 50$ microsoft gift card from Costco for 44.99$.
Change your address to an alberta address.
Then use redeem the gift card to your microsoft account before paying the subscription.
You will be able to pick the method of payment. Select Microsoft balance.
At the end you will pay 48.99$ through your microsoft account and have 1.01$ remaining for the future.
Cost would be 44.99$ final.
Hope this helps someone.

Pretty sure you can't use gift cards to buy Xbox gold live or other subscriptions.

Op, this has been discussed multiple times on the forum. This deal is YMMV and only available to some. Mostly to those who are expiring soon or already expired.

There is no deal here.
You're wrong. I got a deal here. You may not have noticed but YMMV deals are commonplace on RFD.

At the time of my posting there was no indication of YMMV anywhere in the thread. OP later updated the thread to add it.
