I have a legal copy of the Windows Vista DVD. Can I just buy the Vista Ultimate CD-Key from Microsoft and just use it with my DVD?

I'm not sure but I imagine that a retail CD key won't work with an OEM Anytime Upgrade DVD and vice versa. Same thing with an Upgrade CD or CD key.
I don't know...It's how XP works though
So surely the deal here is for an upgrade CD key so maybe it won't work with your retail or OEM DVD.
I'm used to use Licensing products and keys so I can't say for sure.
Anyone?

For university and college students.
_______________
"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - US President, Calvin Coolidge

An upgrade is considered an upgrade from what? Would any version of windows count, like even 95?
And the license, does it get tied to your mobo or something? So you can really only use it once. And if your board ever gets fried your OS goes down with it?

I think all they ask for is just a university base email...
I did the verification process with my old university email and they say I am qualify... Haven't decide if I want to buy or not though...
And no, I am not a student anymore...

I entered in my university alumni address, it actually has the word alumni in it, but also has the university prefix at the end of the email.....and I received the link to purchase.
Just not sure if its worth the risk of having to pay full price if they actualy look at the email address

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade from Vista, XP, or even 2000.
