Microwave location in an Ikea kitchen???
I'm looking at Ikea for a kitchen reno, and for the life of me don't see any options where to put a microwave besides on a shelf. I am looking at building it in as part of the island but don't see this as an option in any of there cabinet selections. Just wondering what other ikea kitchen people have done? Not everybody can be just placing them on their counter.
Any advice or pictures would be great.

ge spacemaker
I found a solution a while ago on Ikea fans. Maybe you've found this also, but it was such a great answer that I thought I would post it for you. It involves using a GE Spacemaker hanging beneath a wall cabinet - the oven size is perfect for a 24" cabinet, and by either surrounding the oven with wall cabinets to the right and left or by using a Pefekt panel, you can make it look like a built-in. Here's some text from Ikeafans:
================================================== ========
The Micro is a GE Spacemaker II PEM31SMSS. It hangs about 1.5 to 2 inches below the edge of the cover panel/light rail, but the cabinet above is a full cabinet that gives us a lot more accessible space than a micro cabinet would.
Here's a link to the micro at AJ Madison
GE PEM31 1.0 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven with 800 Watts, 10 Power Levels, 6 Sensor Settings, Glass Turntable, Optional Built-in Trim Kit and Optional Hanging Kit

You have to buy the hanging kit (about $20) to install it as an under-cabinet.
The thing I really like about it is how "built in" it looks. It is just about 1/8" narrower than the full width of the cabinet (about 1" wider than a micro that would go on the micro shelf cab - because is includes the width of the side walls of the cabinet). And it is just about perfectly flush with the doors above it on the cabinet - it sticks out maybe 1/16"

Here's how the install was done - so that the oven looks like a built in, even though it's just hanging from the wall cabinet.

There is a great photo on that link also.
There are also links on ikeafans showing how you could install your mwave in your base cabinets, but I didn't like the idea of bending down to read the controls and program cooking - I don't think that would be very attractive to older people. And, it creates airflow problems - which are non-existant with the undermount solution, since the GE spacemaker vents from the bottom of the oven.
If you find a better solution - let me know!
