Just saw this deal at Mike's Computer Shop. New Kaby Lake CPUs with free ship. According to most reviews, these don't have a significant increase in performance compared to Skylake, however they do have 4k processing.

i7-7700k - $449.99 https://www.mikescomputershop.com/product/7989882

i5-7600k - $299.99 https://www.mikescomputershop.com/product/7989883

These may work on existing z170 motherboards with BIOS updates.

Offer ends at midnight EST TODAY.

Physically yes (same socket) but a firmware update is required.
Price errors are the only real sales :)
I refused to be gouged by canadian retailers when purchases can be made in the U.S for a LOT less..

I'd say it's a huge gamble to buy right now, not knowing what impact Zen will have. I would only buy if you already have a compatible motherboard.

If Zen is some what successful and can provide similar performance at a slightly lower cost, it may cause intel to either innovate more or to reduce prices.

We are also set to go to 10nm with intel in mid 2017.

Also we are hitting limits with current microprocessor design, very interesting video, highly recommended. Probably why advances have been so slow.

I suppose if one wants to do 4K with these, he must have a MB with a HDMI output supporting 4K

The only issues with AMD is that they are way too slow to provide what they have to public

I was expecting a Vega land release on Jan 5-2017 and nothing happen

I have a 4770k @ 4.4ghz and I'm in the same boat. I was used to upgrading every 2-3 years but I can't justify dropping $2,000-$3,000 on a refresh when it would only net like 5-10%. I've just done incremental upgrades like new video cards and more ram.

Intel optane looks very sexy, but I would like it to be out with real world reviews first before I go upgrading.

I got my 6600K a bit before xmas kinda afraid it was a bad move not waiting for Kaby Lake. I'm glad I've pulled the trigger - got it used here on BST for 250, so I don't think it'd be beaten (price/performance) and this beauty is running sweetly at 4.6GHz (1.3v) :)))

But yeah, I do hope Zen will come strong and put some competition on the scene.
