I think I'd probably pick some up if it were a half oz. But at a quarter (which I expected it to be), it simply is too expensive for somebody looking to obtain silver as an asset. This seems alright for a collector though.

Oh, they're for collectors for sure, I've got every one of them, though not as hardcore as some of these people, I only have 1 to 3 of each, at first I only started with 1, but after I few I started doing 3
But I collect coins, if you're just after holding on to silver you'll want to get stuff at closer to spot price, certainly not collector coins.

You are missing the point - just like someone does in every one of these threads. Buying this coin is not about buying silver as an asset.

I guess I'll buy one. I'm a collector, but this series was losing it's appeal as they issue so many of them in large mintages. Anyway, I have all the previous ones so I will just get one to keep the collection going. In fact I had stopped on the previous one (reindeer) but got it as a xmas gift. LOL

I'm sure the mint would love to sell a $100 coin with only a quarter ounce of silver in it.

I love this deal. There really is no losing. It's like a small hedge against the future.

Should the floor fall out of the price of silver or collectibles the bank will at least reimburse me the purchase price. The time in between it's a nice pretty coin to look at.
