Just curious, at that price what made you choose the gti over the Golf R?
Not sure how true this is, but had a friend who bought a golf r with under 1000kms on it for around 46k all in. If thats true it would be only a couple thousand more for sizable performance boost and AWD.
It would depend on a couple factors...

If it was used, interest rate likely 5-6%
It was probably stick as well, which accounts for nearly $3000 price difference (vs DSG)

Those two factors can add up to a lot over term

When I got my GTI, the Golf R was estimated to be $10k after the interest fees due to high financing rates. Wasn't worth it imo, especially since I can get over 300HP with a stage 1 tune on the GTI. Plus the GTI is all around more fun to drive in my opinion since it's lighter. Also difficult to use over 220HP in everyday GTA driving.

Yea, they are charging $800 in dealer prep fees. And $500 for documentation fees. You guys think I can get those waived on top of the discount off MSRP? Also the reason I didn’t go with the GOLF R is because this is going to be my first car. Getting a golf r would be outside of my budget!

They shouldn't be charging more than $300 at most if they refuse to waive it. Go somewhere else.

It's crazy how in 2018, the DAP is still optional in a GTI
Thankfully it was. Wasn't something I wanted or was going to pay $1800 for when I got my Autobahn in January.

Does anyone know why album art doesn’t appear on either CarPlay or Bluetooth audio?

It shouldn't be extra when it's standard in cheaper ecomoboxes

Also get insurance discount with DAP tech

Do you expect the residual will go down or interest rate go up next month? I am worrying vw will give less promotions and discounts on GTI. The earliest I can get my car has to be in Sept...

Here in BC, land of government monopoly on basic car insurance, they are just introducing a discount for automatic braking. 10% discount on your rates. So let's say my yearly premium is $2000 (which is pretty close to what I pay, with full good driver discount) that would mean I'm saving $200/year. The DAP option on my GTI was $1800 so it would take me 9 years to earn that back via the insurance discount.

All good! The GTI is great, just find myself wanting that off-the-line speed of the R :-)

Still waiting for my 2018 GTI Autobahn 6MT with DAP to even leave the manufacturer. Put a deposit down in May hoping for early August but still no idea why it’s been delayed again. Last I heard was a hail storm?

I'm in the same position as you, I gave a deposit at the end of April, the last update I received from the dealer is October...
