TMS Koodo Huawei P20 Pro - $270 on Small Tab w Extra PC Points - YMMV

Expiry:
April 22, 2019
Retailer:
The Mobile Shop
4/22/2019 - Deal exists when I called two Toronto Stores, one doesn’t have stock, the other only has one left, both of them can get stock from other stores without issues.

4/21/2019 - Other cell providers & phone models are available with the additional bonus, not just Koodo/Huawei

As promised, I called another Mobile Shop in Surrey and was told the deal is happening on Koodo Huawei P20 Pro.
It is as follows for $270 on small tab - Base points 150K, Bonus 125K, Trade in 50K. Total 325K
Note: This person mentioned I can pay the tab with points, then mentioned I would have to pay up front and get point.

Keeping this concise (short and simple) Other models available, see thread summary.
Huawei P20 Pro
$150 down on $360 medium tab
$270 down on $240 small tab
$35 connection fee
Total: $510 + tax
Less: 325k pts = Base + Bonus points (275K) + trade-in 50k = $325 RCSS groceries

Oops - Sorry all, I noticed this "deal" is a repost of https://forums.redflagdeals.com/mobile- ... v-2279656/
I created the thread on 4/20/2019 and this was posted a few hours earlier than mine. I did a search before posting and couldn't find anything so.

Thank you RFD community for helping me with spending money, I feel so poor now!
Thread Summary
Today is the last day, get the deal you need/want, it doesn’t necessarily be Koodo or Huawei, they have the activation bonus for all providers/phones they carry. Good Luck! Congrats to those who got on any deal of their choice.

4/22/2019 - Deal exists when I called two Toronto Stores, one doesn’t have stock, the other only has one left, both of them can get stock from other stores without issues.

4/21/2019 - Other cell providers & phone models are available with the additional bonus, not just Koodo/Huawei
Acknowledged this is a repost, verified the deal is still going on (called TMS in Surrey), and updated title to reflect YMMV points.

TLDR - 4/20/2019 - Adding a summary to further explain things - Copying the format embguy used in previous thread.
This deal is still happening in the Lower mainland stores I've called, (Burnaby, Vancouver, North Van, Richmond)

For reference, this was technically the same deal as last month. Link: tms-tms- ... y-2273600/

TMS - Koodo phone with extra PCO points + base offer on TMS website - New Activation only

TMS Koodo Huawei P20 $0, medium tab OR $120 small tab, 275K pts = $275 groceries at RCSS
TMS Koodo LG G7 One $0, medium tab OR $120 small tab, 275K pts = $275 groceries at RCSS

Minimum plan cost for small tab is $38 plan
Minimum plan cost for medium tab is $55 plan

Huawei P20 Pro
$150 down on $360 medium tab
$270 down on $240 small tab
$35 connection fee
Total: $510 + tax
Less: 275k pts = Base + Bonus points (225K) + trade-in 50k = $275 RCSS groceries

Huawei P20:
$0 down on $360 medium tab
$120 down on $240 small tab
$35 connection fee
Total $395 + tax
Less: 275k pts = Base + Bonus points (225K) + trade-in 50k = $275 RCSS groceries

LG G7 One:
$0 down on $360 medium tab
$120 down on $240 small tab
$35 connection fee
Total $395 + tax
Less: 275k pts = Base + Bonus points (225K) + trade-in 50k = $275 RCSS groceries

Note: The reason I went with the Huawei P20 Pro is because the place I went to had it in stock, I wanted a newer phone with more ram/screen size than the P20.
If you want to get in on this deal, you need to do the following.

You may want to check for other deals, review the Mobile Shop website for current point offers and get the one you want
Example: Iphone 8, Iphone 6s, Samsung S8, Samsung A8, LG G6, and whatever else is on their site that hits your fancy!
With the Samsung A8/Iphone 6s, You may be able to get a phone for FREE with the $275 RCCS groceries

1) Verify - Call your local TMS or two to make sure the deal is happening in your area
2) Verify - Asked them how many total points you get and also the trade in amount
3) Verify - Ask for stock, if they have it handy right now or if they can get it in from another store
4) Verify - The amount you are willing to pay for a new phone activation, I set my limit at $250 in all

For more reference, you can read the thread summary of the previous one too!

Q&A: Is there anyway to avoid claw back and cancel early than 91days?

Yes, cancel if you want to right away, the contract doesn't state anything to do with the PC Points or the 90 day time frame, you can cancel anytime you want by porting to another service. This is where I have PM sim cards handy, I create a PM account and port the phone number over, you will then get a bill total of $240+x service days...

However, Having said that, if you stay with them for 3 months on Seasonal Hold, you can get more phones from them later on. If you don't want to be blacklisted from TMS and get deals from them every other year or two years, then for $15/month 3 months, it's a good investment.

What's the bonus for trade in? Can it be any phone? I've got a couple old ones sitting around.

Any one phone will work, cracked/broken, bricked, etc. Just make sure it is NOT blacklisted as it goes through the system.
The person who did the sale for me, gave me a trade in value of $50 - he used the phones IMEI I bought as the trade in!!

Price history: the P20 pro was $680+taxes ($200 upfront/$480 large tab + taxes)
This was June 9, 2018 Link: https://forums.redflagdeals.com/koodo-h ... 0-2199740/
Then earlier this year - Feb 1, 2019 (2.5 months ago, it dropped to $360+taxes)
Link: mobile-shop-huawei-p20-pro-400-through-koodo-2261759/
The cheapest ever was Feb 5, 2019 (It dropped to $310 but only for existing clients)
Link: https://forums.redflagdeals.com/koodo-h ... y-2262652/

All in all - for this deal, I find this a very good deal compared to Feb 27, 2019 - $240 for a Certified preowned Huawei NON PRO
I am paying $2.8 dollars more and get the PRO version with extra RAM, etc, it's brand new as well.

I was asking the sales rep what other phones were on sale, he mentioned the Samsung S8, A8, LG G7 one, and Iphone 6s were on sale with extra points. I think all of these phones has either a $100 or $150 worth of points, plus a new 100K for this Easter Long Weekend holiday. I might get another phone for wife. This is for NEW activation only, HUP is not eligible for the extra PC points.

KOODO HOW TO: Referral Credit AFTER Activation!
So, you activated a phone purchase without getting a referral? You're in LUCK you came across this thread, my RFD boy/girlfriends!

The Koodo referral system just links your telephone number with the referrer. It doesn't take into account how or when the activation took place. In brief, there are two ways of getting this done. If you "forgot" to get a referral before you activated a Koodo line, you can follow these steps to get your referral credit!

Option 1) Logon to the Referral website: https://referafriend.koodomobile.com/public/home.pg

- Click link: Referred by a friend? Click Here > Click "Find my friend".
- Punch in Your Friends Koodo Number and click Go.

Option 2) Get your friend to refer you by referral link, as if you are starting the process before you purchased, just do this step by step!
When you receive an email, click Provide Koodo Phone Number (This is your newly activated number, not your friends)

Note: It takes a day for this referral activation to take place. You will receive an email indicating it's verifying and another when it's completed.
This week, I purchased two Huawei P20 pro's without referrals on April the 19th, I got a buddy to refer me and I did a second referral for myself.
Image link below shows both options: (option 1) Word of mouth and (option 2) Referral Link
https://i.imgur.com/qm6HnLM.jpg

(Answer to how to is not found on Koodo Sites, my cousins and I stumbled across this fix on the LG G4 deal from TMS a couple of years ago)
Even though the referral system has changed slightly ($50 spread through 5 months vs $50/month credit, I recommend staying for 3 months vs cancelling right away. This way, you can try to be placed on seasonal hold, and get offers on newer phones later next year.

Hi all, Today, The Mobile Shop had a promo that paid for the up front cost/activation fee...
I just grabbed a Huawei P20 Pro as the prices dropped due to the release of the P30 series.
PC Points were actually used to pay for everything! I was just charged $2.8 on the credit card!

Upfront cost $270, Activation $35, Small Tab $240
PC Points used to pay for the Upfront/Activation: 350K
Calculation: $270+$35+$10 x BC taxes = $352.8

I was asking the sales rep what other phones were on sale, he mentioned the Samsung S8, A8, LG G7 one, and Iphone 6s were on sale with extra points.

Note: This is for NEW activation only, HUP is not eligible for the extra PC points. I think in addition to above, the Huawei P20 (non pro is on sale too)

I have never cancelled right away with Koodo, the last time I grabbed two phones from them, I stayed for the entire 3 months (seasonal hold).
But this time, I may just cancel right away. If I do so, it will cost me a total of $240 for the tab and the $2.8 they just charged me plus X days of service.
I love it when the prices drop when the newer models come out, I would chose this over the Huawei P30 lite, for over $240, I think this is a deal.
How much PC POINTS do u get on this new Koodo activation?

$352.80 Looks like the upfront cost. I assume the tab is still there at $240. So it's actually $572.80? If that's the case it's been like that for quite a while.
I do know that Mobile shop has occasionally given 100K PC Points with Koodo P20 Pro Activations, not sure if that is available now though.

Never mind, I see that things have been "cleaned up" for clarity. Seems like a good deal.

Do u guys not read the op post. He got 350k point which essentially covers the upfront cost and activation fee. He just has to pay the remaining device balance which is 240 plus x amount of service days

OP is extremely convoluted. How many PC points exactly were spent / earned, and what was the out of pocket cost before factoring in the points?

Is this the deal cuz OP used his own points to pay $350??? Or he got $350 in points?!?! Or WTF???

If you cant explain "the deal", don't bother posting...

Edit:

Also, was this some "flash deal", lasting one day? Expiry? Is it already expired, and you just bragging??? Seriously, WTF??

I think the op used 350k pc points to cover the upfront. And also got 350k pc points for opening the line. That would make this deal pretty hot. But I am not sure.

Let's try to do this: OP, please just answer this, did u get 350K points for this new activation or not?
If yes, it's a hot deal; if not, then it's not a deal

By reading the past deal links that OP provided, I think he actually got 350K points for the new activation and somehow convinced the staff to use the points towards the phone purchase. If so, he is really lucky then.

Still a good deal considering you can use the points in a future purchase worth $275.
