You can skip the steps to get into fastboot, just make sure USB debugging is on, then connect to PC and run the RUU. I went into Fastboot as a precaution.
If and when JB is released for the One S, I am pretty sure the majority of us will never get it since we have left Virgin and Virgin is indifferent in rolling it out. Looks like leaked Bell RUUs are the only way of upgrading stock roms into the future.

I forgot to add you need install htc sync to get the usb drivers installed. http://www.htc.com/ca/software/htc-sync-manager/
Once you connect to PC if Sync manager turns on shut it off then run the RUU. Make sure USB debugging is on.

Thanks OP. Picked up two today...one for me and one for my husband. Ordered from another store over a week ago and finally came in today.
Was also told yesterday there were only a few left (including my two).

I am getting pretty good battery life on ICS 4.04. 1 day and 9 hrs with 34% remaining.
18 mins call total, screen brightness 25% (2hrs, 32 mins on), wifi on when screen is on. 7% drop overnight 9hrs. Not bad. I think it is worth it to jump to 4.04 plus you get the menu button back.
