Monitor upgrade

So I think I am ready to upgrade my current computer monitor. Its a nice Samsung 21.3inch monitor which I bought in Jan of 2009. Comes with the standard DVI and VGA outputs.

I am looking for a monitor that has 1080P resolution, 22" if possible, but am open to 23" (if it exists), and that has HDMI (if possible) so I can hook up my Xbox 360 to it or tablet/smart phone.

As for brands, I am looking at Samsung, NEC, maybe another one?

Now do you think I should go for LCD or LED? I am not looking for a 3D one. For getting the actual monitor, I am hoping to pick it up from a local store rather than getting it shipped from an online source such as Dell, DirectCanada and Newegg. Some options would be Canada Computers, NCIX, Tiger Direct, etc.

Any suggestions on the above will be helpful. As for budget, no more than $250 (if possible).

Thanks

Question, is LED really necessary or is just LCD as good?

I got 2 Dell U2311H recently and never looked back. Days of Dell are here too, should be expecting a good deal on the monitors this week.

I have my 360 hooked up to my monitor, its a BenQ, I don't know the model number, but its a few years old anyways. Just make sure your monitor supports 1:1 pixel mapping, 1080p is 16:9, but most computer monitors are 16:10 (taller) so if it doesn't know what to do with the signal which lacks verticle pixles it might just stretch the image distorting it.

Is it usually free shipping and how long does it take them to ship normally?

Good to know. I'll take note of that when I am researching/shopping for a monitor.

It is almost always free shipping, it has always come through Purolator for me and I would expect it in 5 business days or at most, 2 business weeks - don't be fooled by their estimated ship dates of 2-3 weeks... I would say that's their worst case scenario.
