Maybe there is stress on the parking pin/notch. You should be able to move freely from park if you do this when parking: Foot on foot brake, shift to neutral and pull hand brake. Get off the foot brake, then back on the foot brake and shift to park.
Have you checked the ATF fluid level?

You should get it checked out. I had my car in for a checkup and the guy at Toyota said the shifter was getting stiff because the pivot joint was wearing out. It was 100 bucks to fix or 500 if it broke.

I had a vehicle a couple years ago that one day the shift was stupid hard to move... I landed up removing the housing to find that somehow a plastic piece for the shift lock had broken allowing a metal pin to bend to sh*t jamming the gear selector making it almost impossible to move.
Weird? Yes! Possible this could be your problem? Possibly, but a long shot.
