Mortal Kombat movie being rebooted

The 1995 movie was fun-ish in a cheesy way. Hope the new filmmakers take the combat and mythology seriously so we don't get another DOA: Dead or Alive (which was actually really aptly named).

To think Jean Claude Van Damme turned down the role of Johnny Cage in the original game as well as the movies. Must have been the coke talking as who would turn down what would become a Billion dollar franchise? A new movie would depend on the audience it's aimed at. The latest game is way over the top as far as gore is concerned. I have little interest in playing it though I started with the original arcade game way back when...

Then you were probably around for Mortal Monday.

I remember the live action ads for MK II and everyone being pretty impressed by them. When the ‘95 movie cane out, my friends all wondered why it wasn’t more like the MK II commercials. Ah, the innocence of youth.

The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie is one of my favourite movies when I was a kid.
It is way better than the IMDB.com rating suggests.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113855/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I bought both blu-ray releases and hopefully it is popular enough to release on 4K UHD blu-ray.

I also have Street Fighter on Blu-ray. I thought it was entertaining despite its many ridiculous flaws.

I thought Mortal Kombat was very good as a kid as well (hated Street Fighter, though). MK was a fun movie. Love the title song too! In fact, I think I'll listen to the song on Youtube now!

The Mortal Kombat movies weren't cinematic masterpieces by any means, but they were good, entertaining movies. They're like the McDonalds of movies; not fancy cuisine by any respect, but who cares because it tastes good.

I guess it's too much to ask that this be rated R? Come on, it's Mortal Kombat where characters rip each other's spines out!

I started playing the theme song for my 1-year-old son and he absolutely loves it Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

Meh, ripping someone's spine out was R-rated...in the 90s. Today that kind of stuff gets a yawn and slapped with a PG  Remember back when they had the Senate committee stuff in the US over video games? Haha, over stuff like blood in fighting games and Night Trap  All that stuff is super-soft today and no one would give a crap. Remember Howard Lincoln and his "Night Trap will NEVER be on a Nintendo console" diatribe? LOL.

I really want to see a movie about Mortal Kombat, with the premiere of a Warcraft-based film that they released a few months ago I would like to see something based on this franchise.
