Most affordable decent smartphone?

Dropped my xiaomi m1a2 a few too many times. Serves me right for not getting a case.

What would be a good replacement for this phone as of July 2019? Looking for under $500 please, closer to $300 would be best.

Pixel 3A is would my 1st choice, if you want an android phone.

Honestly, the Samsung Galaxy A20 ($349 outright) or the A50 ($449 outright) is the best option. You can buy on Samsung Canada website. Personally I'd choose the A50 as it is the best option for the money and it even has a in screen fingerprint scanner......

In my opinion if you want iOS iPhone 7 is still a beast

If android the pixel 3a is solid

Even the Samsung a8 (2018) is pretty decent and can be had at a good price

A50 fingerprint and camera sucks, but it does have a very nice big screen.

I would go for the Pixel 3a / XL though

Samsung Galaxy A50 can be bought under $400 on Amazon/eBay. It's a well-rounded phone with mid-range specs and features.
Pixel 3A stands out in camera quality, but it's pricey, and 64gb storage might not be enough depending on your usage pattern.

Nokia mid-range phones aren't bad either, but you won't get the same warranty coverage as you would with a Samsung/Pixel.

Another vote for the A50. Very well rounded and good specs for the price.

Xiaomi is Ok but my dad is constantly battling bloatware and ads. Not a great experience.

A50 since its the best valued midranger. But I would get the A70 if you don't mind the larger form factor and if you can get some deep discounts that sometimes makes it cheaper then a A50

I am leaning towards the pixel 3a due to its smaller screen. I prefer a smaller form factor and one hand swyping.

Update:
After handling both phones at a booth, I've decided to go with the A50 as most others recommended. <$400 on amazon, great screen, etc. I barely take pics so the pixel 3a's camera would go unused.
