Motherboard/6300/ocz 6400 plat rev 2
Hi there, I am having a little bit of trouble.
Just currently building a system from NCIX. I got the retail edge combo which has the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6300 &nIntel® Desktop Board DG965WH.
Other components are
-2x1gb OCZ platinum rev 2
- 700w OCZ PSU
-ati x1950 pro
I knew that the intel board was very picky with the ram that it uses, but I have a friend who is using the exact same set up and his runs fine. I was going to upgrade to another board in the near future when I had more funds.
The issue that I am having is that the computer powers on, but no video is displayed. I am thinking that the motherboard is not liking ram. When I take the ram out i get 3 beeps.
I am not able to go in to the bios at all. The ram i read is 2.1v and the mobo is 1.8. Read somewhere about maybe going in to the bios and bumping up the voltage a bit.
I am just about to order another motherboard but not sure which. I would like to get a board that will OC well. I am tring to decide between the gigabyte ds3 or the asus p5b deluxe.
sorry for the long post, but it sucks getting all your parts in and nothing works..thanks

you can use other memory and go into the bios asap. Then change the DDR2 Ram speed from Auto to DDR667. After that you can use your OCZ 6400 Rev2 Ram with Intel Motherboard.
I installed one Pc with this combination and no problem at all. But I used that OCZ to go into the bios.

I had the same problem with my OCZ. Even though they work on another system, it didnt work on mine. So, I signed for RMA form and I got a replacement kit and it works perfectly. However, if you can get into the bios with another stick and change the settings, it may boot.

For your motherboard choices, both are great boards if you decide to get a new one in the future or currently. The P5B Deluxe was rated the #1 P965 board and the Gigabyte DS3 as a runner-up to the P5B Deluxe. Hope that helps.

Just double check to make sure you have the power cable hooked up to your video card. It seems like a ram problem but it could also be a video card issue.
